Head Chef de Cuisine
Le Richmond – Griffintown, Montréal
Le Richmond is seeking an experienced, passionate and highly organized Head Chef de Cuisine to lead our culinary team.
Located in the heart of Griffintown, Le Richmond offers a unique culinary setting combining à la carte restaurant service with weddings, corporate events, private dinners, cocktail receptions and large-scale special events.
This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for a Chef who wants to be actively involved in the kitchen while taking full responsibility for the organization, performance and development of the culinary operation.
Your Role
As Head Chef de Cuisine, you will oversee the daily operation of the kitchen and lead the brigade through both restaurant service and our diverse event business.
Depending on the day, you may be leading regular restaurant service, an intimate private dinner, a corporate event, a cocktail reception or a large wedding.
You will work closely with ownership, management and our events team to ensure that every culinary experience reflects Le Richmond's standards of quality, consistency and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and actively participate in daily kitchen operations and service
- Manage, coach, train and develop the kitchen brigade
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
- Participate in menu development and the continued evolution of Le Richmond's culinary offering
- Plan and execute à la carte restaurant service, weddings, corporate events, private dinners and special events
- Review upcoming events and coordinate production, staffing and purchasing accordingly
- Manage all food purchasing and supplier relationships
- Maintain inventory levels and conduct regular inventory controls
- Monitor and manage food cost, waste, portioning and menu profitability
- Prepare and manage kitchen schedules while maintaining established labour-cost objectives
- Maintain strong kitchen organization, prep systems and production planning
- Ensure rigorous standards of cleanliness, sanitation and food safety
- Maintain temperature logs, operational logbooks and equipment-maintenance records
- Identify equipment maintenance, repair and replacement requirements
- Work closely with front-of-house management and the events team to ensure seamless execution
- Provide regular operational reporting and maintain accountability for established budgets and KPIs
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Executive Sous Chef or similar culinary leadership position
- Strong leadership and team-management abilities
- Hands-on approach and strong presence in the kitchen
- Experience in an upscale or high-volume restaurant environment
- Experience with weddings, corporate events, banquets or catering is a strong asset
- Strong understanding of food cost, labour cost, purchasing, inventory and menu profitability
- Excellent organization and production-planning skills
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to manage different styles and volumes of service
- Ability to remain organized and solutions-oriented under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Italian or Mediterranean cuisine is an asset
Who We're Looking For We are looking for more than a talented cook.
We want a leader who takes ownership — someone who understands that an exceptional culinary experience requires great food, strong people and disciplined systems.
Someone who can lead by example, develop a team and hold high standards.
Someone who understands the numbers behind a successful kitchen as well as the food.
And someone who can move comfortably between the precision of an intimate restaurant dinner and the organization required to successfully execute a large wedding or corporate event.
Join Le Richmond
Le Richmond has been part of Montréal's hospitality scene since 2013, and we are entering an exciting new chapter.
