Intermediate Civil Engineer
Elora, Ontario
This opportunity is well suited to a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with strong technical expertise in land development, site servicing, grading, stormwater management and municipal infrastructure design .
The Intermediate Civil Engineer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team managing and delivering civil engineering components of construction projects from initial client meetings and design through municipal approvals, construction and completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare civil engineering designs supporting site plan approvals, including site plans, site servicing, grading, details and technical notes
- Perform hydraulic and hydrologic calculations and modelling
- Complete stormwater management designs, including LIDs and erosion and sediment control
- Prepare Functional Servicing Reports, Stormwater Management Reports and other technical documentation
- Coordinate with clients, municipalities and regulatory authorities throughout the approval process
- Manage assigned civil engineering projects from initial client startup through completion
- Coordinate engineers, technologists and designers across multidisciplinary project teams
- Conduct periodic construction inspections, surveying and contract administration
- Support project planning, costing,
schedules and proposals
- Participate in client presentations and provide technical recommendations
- Contribute to client relationships and business development initiatives
- Maintain high standards of engineering quality control and regulatory compliance
Qualifications & Experience
- University degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in valuable standing with Professional Engineers Ontario, or pending p.eng (passed all exams, etc and are waiting on your stamp)
- Approximately 4+ years of experience within an engineering consulting firm
- Strong experience with stormwater management design, modelling and reporting
- Working knowledge of MIDAS or OTTHYMO modelling software
- Experience with land development, site plans, site servicing and grading
- Experience designing municipal infrastructure such as water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways and stormwater management works
- Knowledge of applicable building codes, fire codes, regulations and engineering standards
- Strong technical report writing and project documentation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, municipalities, regulatory authorities and multidisciplinary project teams
