Arrow Custom Machining Ltd. is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced machinist who can independently set up and operate CNC equipment, troubleshoot machining issues, and take ownership of their work from setup through final inspection.
Our shop handles a wide variety of work, ranging from smaller repeat-production components to larger custom-machined parts. This provides our machinists with a good mix of production work and custom machining. What You'll Be Doing
- Independently set up and operate CNC mills and/or CNC lathes
- Perform machine setups including workholding, tooling, offsets and part zeroes
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and machining specifications
- Prove out CNC programs and make G-code, offset, speed/feed and tooling adjustments
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds and feeds for the job
- Ensure completed parts meet drawing specifications and quality requirements
- Identify and troubleshoot machining, tooling and setup issues
- Work with a variety of materials, part sizes and production quantities
- Work independently while collaborating with other machinists and management
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of CNC machining experience preferred
- Strong CNC milling and/or CNC turning experience
- Proven ability to independently set up CNC machines
- Experience in custom or high-mix CNC machining
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
- Strong understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds and feeds
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment
- Ability to make CNC program and G-code adjustments at the machine
- Robust troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned jobs
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
Strong Assets Skills that would be an advantage in this role include:
- Strong skills on both CNC mills and CNC lathes
- Ability to program CNC machines
- CAD/CAM programming knowledge
- Background in custom and one-off machining
- Large-part or tight-tolerance machining capabilities
- Familiarity with Fanuc or Fagor CNC controls
- Horizontal boring mill or large-capacity machining knowledge
Schedule
- Straight day shift
- Monday to Friday
- 40 hours per week
- Finish at noon every Friday!
- No rotating shifts
