Located in Ontario's Kawarthas, Quickmill offers a collaborative, hands-on environment where employees work closely across engineering, manufacturing, sales, and service to deliver highly customized machine-tool solutions.

We are seeking a CNC Tooling & Applications Specialist to join our Engineering team. This role supports the development, integration, commissioning, and ongoing performance of Quickmill machine tools, with a focus on CNC applications, tooling, programming, process optimization, training, and customer support.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on CNC machining professional who combines strong programming and troubleshooting skills with a customer-focused approach. You will work directly with customers and internal teams to develop practical machining solutions, improve process performance, and help users get the most from their equipment.

Responsibilities

- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, and multi-axis applications.
- Create and optimize CNC programs using Fusion 360 CAM software
- Apply parametric programming or FANUC Macro B programming where appropriate.
- Select cutting tools, workholding, and machining parameters to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient performance.
- Perform cycle-time estimates, application reviews,



and process analyses to support machine selection and sales proposals.
- Support custom machine-tool quotations, from basic jigs and fixtures to complete turnkey solutions.
- Participate in machine prove-outs, runoffs, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities.
- Provide pre-sales and post-installation technical support, both remotely and at customer sites.
- Deliver customer training on machine setup, operation, CNC programming, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and machining best practices.
- Develop clear training materials, procedures, setup documentation, and user instructions.
- Work with tooling suppliers to evaluate new products and maintain current best practices.
- Support quotation and setup of subcontract machining work performed on Quickmill's in-house machining centres.
- Identify opportunities to improve machining quality, productivity, cycle time, and cost.

Required Qualifications

- Three or more years of hands-on CNC machining and CNC programming experience.
- Canadian Red Seal Machinist certification or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong knowledge of CNC controls, programming, and diagnostics; FANUC experience is preferred.
- Experience with CAM software and a strong understanding of feeds and speeds, cutting tools, workholding, and material behaviour.




- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.;
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain technical information clearly and train customers, operators, and technical personnel with varying experience levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach and strong attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively across departments.
- Valid passport and willingness to travel within Canada and the USA, with occasional international travel.

Preferred Assets

- Experience with 4-axis or 5-axis machining.
- Experience delivering formal or informal CNC training.
- Advanced familiarity with FANUC control features and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of parametric programming and FANUC Macro B programming
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume or custom manufacturing environments.

Work Environment
- A combination of office, manufacturing-floor, and customer-site work.
- Regular collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Service, suppliers, and customers.
- Travel is generally associated with customer training, application support, commissioning, and machine prove-outs.

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
