About the Winnipeg Kinsmen For more than 100 years, the Winnipeg Kinsmen have been bringing people together to build a better Manitoba.
Through initiatives including Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo, the Kin Kar Raffle, charitable partnerships, sponsorships, and community projects, we raise funds and awareness to support organizations making a difference throughout Manitoba.
We are looking for a creative, organized, and community-minded Communications Coordinator to help us tell those stories, promote our fundraising initiatives, strengthen our digital presence, and connect with the communities we serve.
About the Role
This is a hands-on communications position for someone who enjoys variety. One day you may be creating social media content or updating our website, while another may involve promoting a fundraising campaign, preparing a newsletter, working with a featured charity, attending a community event, or capturing photos and video.
The Communications Coordinator will work closely with staff, Kinsmen members, charitable organizations, media and community partners to support the communications and marketing needs of the organization.
The successful candidate will be creative, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of projects while managing multiple priorities in a busy, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute communications and marketing initiatives for Winnipeg Kinsmen programs, events and fundraising campaigns
- Create engaging written, photo and video content for social media, website, newsletters, email campaigns and promotional materials
- Manage the organization's social media platforms, including content planning, scheduling and community engagement
- Maintain and update website content, including events, fundraising initiatives and featured charity partners
- Develop and coordinate email newsletters and other digital communications
- Assist with media relations, including preparing press releases, media information and interview coordination
- Help develop promotional materials and coordinate advertising campaigns with external partners
- Monitor social media, website and campaign performance and provide regular reporting on results
- Maintain consistent branding, messaging and tone across organizational communications
Community Engagement & Events
- Build positive relationships with charities, non-profit organizations, community partners and other stakeholders
- Communicate with featured charities and community partners to gather stories, photos and information for promotional campaigns
- Represent the Winnipeg Kinsmen at community events, sponsorships and outreach initiatives
- Capture photo and video content at events for social media, promotional materials and future campaigns
- Assist with the promotion and execution of signature fundraising initiatives, including Kinsmen Jackpot Bingo, Kin Kar Raffle and other Kinsmen campaigns and events
- Support volunteer and community outreach initiatives
- Attend occasional events outside regular office hours when required
Collaboration & Organization
- Work closely with Winnipeg Kinsmen staff and executive members to ensure communications support organizational priorities
- Coordinate with external media, advertising, design and community partners as required
- Maintain communications calendars and help ensure campaigns and materials are completed on schedule
- Identify new opportunities to increase community awareness and engagement
- Provide general communications and marketing support as required
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media or a related field
- 1–2 years of relevant communications, marketing, social media or content creation experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and digital content
- Experience creating engaging written, photographic and/or video content
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating with a small team
- Professional and confident when communicating with community organizations, partners and members of the public
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence
- An interest in community service, non-profit organizations and charitable initiatives is considered an asset
Experience with email marketing platforms, website content management, graphic design tools, photography, video editing or digital analytics is considered an asset. Why Join the Winnipeg Kinsmen?
