We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide essential assistance to individuals with disabilities. Worker required to support developmentally challenged persons.
The role of the worker is to provide respite care and day program supervision primarily in the adult day program. Candidates must have the ability to supervise male or female adults and adolescents with developmental challenges.
Diploma of College Studies (DCS/DEC) in the relative field is an asset. (i.e. DSW, SSW, PSW, or equivalent). Experience an asset. Having own vehicle and a valid driver's license is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Supports each individual in a non-judgmental and collaborative fashion to expand upon their own experience of life without judgment.
- Provides professional, appropriate and emphatic regard for individuals’ relational strengths, helping to move into connection with others.
- Utilizes effective and respectful conflict resolution skills.
- Maintains confidentiality of residents.
- Provides support to program activities as requested.
- Promotion of life skills for clients
- Assessment of client's strengths and developmental needs
- Resolving conflict situations
- Liaising with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients
- Light housekeeping activities and food preparation
- Own vehicle and Driver's License G class is an asset
Skills
- Working knowledge of caring for individuals with disabilities
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to administer medications safely and accurately
- Compassionate attitude with patience and empathy
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules
