Join the Art Gallery of Ontario as a Conservator specializing in works on paper. This full time role in Toronto focuses on conservation treatment, documentation, and preservation education. As a key member of the Conservation team, you will evaluate, treat, and prolong the life of paper-based artworks.
Your expertise will contribute to decisions regarding acquisitions, exhibitions, and loans of the Gallery's extensive collection. Collaborating closely with various stakeholders, you'll provide consultations and lead educational initiatives on conservation best practices. Key Responsibilities:
- Assess condition and diagnose conservation issues
- Perform treatments to stabilize and enhance artworks
- Conduct technical examinations for preservation implications
- Define conservation criteria for framing and handling
- Serve as a consultant on conservation practices Requirements:
- Master’s degree in conservation or equivalent experience
- Five years related experience in an art museum
- Excellent knowledge of conservation materials and techniques
- Strong research and manual dexterity skills
- Proficient in communication and consultation Leverage your conservation skills to protect and celebrate paper artworks at the AGO.
