Salmon Arm

Work Location: 220 Shuswap Street NE, Salmon Arm, British Columbia, V1E 4N2, with travel to project sites in British Columbia as required.

About SEICOT GROUP LTD.

SEICOT GROUP LTD. is a British Columbia construction and maintenance company providing renovation, repair, maintenance, and project-based construction services. While the company is established in Salmon Arm, its current and prospective client base is expanding across British Columbia, including the Vancouver and Victoria markets.

SEICOT currently performs work in collaboration with contractors and subcontractors and is pursuing additional tender and bidding opportunities for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. As the volume and geographic reach of those opportunities increase, the company requires dedicated in-house estimating capacity to prepare timely, accurate, and commercially sound proposals before work is awarded.

Position Summary The Construction Estimator will be SEICOT’s primary internal resource for converting project opportunities into detailed, competitive quotations and tender submissions. Working with the Construction Project Manager, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and company leadership, the Estimator will assess incoming project opportunities, establish pricing assumptions, obtain trade pricing, prepare estimates, and support cost control after a project is awarded.

This role is intended to support the company’s expansion in British Columbia. By assuming responsibility for estimating and tender preparation, the Construction Estimator will allow the Construction Project Manager to focus on client development, site coordination, project execution, quality, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Review project leads, client requests, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, site information, and tender documents to determine estimating requirements and bid deadlines.

Participate in project-site visits or virtual reviews, as required, to confirm existing conditions, access constraints, sequencing issues, material requirements, and the anticipated scope of work.

Prepare quantity take-offs for renovation, maintenance, repair, and construction work, including materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor work, and project allowances.

 Build detailed estimates, client quotations,

bid submissions, and project budgets for projects pursued in Salmon Arm, Vancouver, Victoria, and other B.C. locations.

Obtain, compare, and analyze supplier and subcontractor pricing; follow up on exclusions, assumptions, lead times, and availability before a quote or tender is submitted.

Work with contractors, subcontractors, and the Construction Project Manager to define practical scopes, construction sequencing, labour requirements, and cost assumptions.

Identify direct costs, indirect costs, travel or mobilization costs, overhead, contingencies, and proposed margins under company-approved pricing parameters.

Maintain a working database of supplier pricing, subcontractor rates, material costs, labour assumptions, equipment rates, and prior project pricing.

Prepare clear estimate summaries and tender documents for management approval and timely submission to clients, general contractors, and project partners.

Review addenda, changes in scope, change orders, and tender revisions, and quantify their cost and scheduling impact.

After contract award, provide the Project Manager with the approved estimate, pricing assumptions, subcontractor quotations, allowances, and identified cost risks to support handover and project-cost monitoring.

Track actual project costs against the estimate and flag significant variances, purchasing issues, or scope changes for management review.

Maintain professional working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and internal project personnel.

Follow applicable workplace health and safety, company, and project requirements.

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in civil engineering, construction technology, construction management, quantity surveying,

or a closely related field; equivalent directly relevant construction-estimating experience will be considered.

Experience preparing estimates, project budgets, quantity take-offs, client quotations, bids, or tender submissions in construction, renovation, maintenance, or repair projects.

Demonstrated ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and site conditions.

Practical knowledge of construction materials, labour productivity, subcontracting, supplier pricing, project sequencing, and cost-control principles.

Ability to obtain and assess trade quotations, identify exclusions and assumptions, and communicate clearly with contractors and subcontractors.

Solid numerical, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills, with the ability to manage several active bid deadlines.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with estimating, spreadsheet, project-management, or construction-cost software is an asset.

Ability to travel within British Columbia for project reviews, site visits, client meetings, and tender-related work as required.

Valid authorization to work in Canada, or eligibility to obtain authorization before starting employment.
