Construction Manager 1
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Revelstoke DO

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Field
Annual salary: $ 109,700.00 - 138,700.00
What you'll do
- Foster a safe, inclusive and respectful work environment by providing visible safety leadership to BC Hydro employees,
contractors and consultants involved in project delivery.
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of construction management, commissioning and project support professionals,
providing coaching, mentoring and development to build team capability and performance.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with project teams, contractors, stakeholders and business partners to
support collaboration, issue resolution and successful project outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and construction expertise to project teams throughout all phases of project
delivery, including constructability, planning, design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Partner with the Construction Manager 2 to develop resource strategies and workforce plans that support multi-year
project and program delivery requirements.
- Contribute to the development of business objectives, quality standards,
performance measures and continuous
improvement initiatives that enhance construction delivery excellence.
- Provide construction-related input to procurement activities, tender documents, contracting strategies, risk assessments
and stakeholder engagement processes.
- Represent BC Hydro in the execution and administration of construction and equipment installation contracts, building
productive and collaborative relationships while protecting BC Hydro's interests and maintaining contract compliance,
accountability and project objectives.
- Coordinate construction and commissioning activities across project teams, contractors and stakeholders to support safe
and efficient project execution.
- Provide oversight of contractor performance to verify compliance with safety, schedule, quality, environmental and
contractual requirements.
- Administer contract changes, claims, payment verification, issue resolution and contractual risk throughout project
execution.
- May be appointed as Hydro’s Representative and/or Work Package Manager for assigned contracts and/or projects.
What you bring
- High school graduation plus additional technical training in the civil, structural, mechanical and/or electrical field(s)
equivalent to a partial university degree in engineering or graduation from a technical institute. Extensive on-the-job experience & training, without a formal degree or diploma, will be considered.
- Ten (10) years of progressively more complex experience in the construction industry including considerable experience
with electric utility projects performing construction/contract management.
- Considerable technical knowledge in civil, structural,
mechanical and/or electrical work.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- The ability to relate and discuss issues with a range of professionals from trades people to senior management.
- The ability and passion to provide strong work leadership and technical direction to engineers or other technical support
staff.
- Ability to manage a project or series of projects of considerable scope and complexity on time and within budget.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge in construction methods and procedures in a utility environment.
- Demonstrated organization, project planning and people management skills.
- Knowledge of Contracting principles, health & safety and environmental regulations relevant to utility construction skills
