The role is suited to an experienced superintendent, foreman, construction supervisor, or contractor who is looking for flexible project-based work.

The majority of work will be concentrated around Central Alberta. The successful candidate should preferably be based in the Red Deer area and must be comfortable occasionally travelling to Southern Alberta and other project locations as required.

- Escalating scope changes, additional work, cost impacts, or contractual issues to PEC management before proceeding
- Helping drive each assigned project through construction, inspection,

deficiency correction, and final completion

The Superintendent will primarily be responsible for field execution and coordination.

Typical Workload:

Depending on the project, assignments may range from:

- Short-duration projects requiring several consecutive days of supervision
- Projects requiring approximately one or two site visits per week
- Additional visits when key construction activities, inspections, or problems require attendance

The Superintendent will be expected to use their judgment to identify when field attendance is necessary to keep a project moving successfully.

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with strong practical construction experience and the ability to independently manage field activities.

Preferred qualifications include

- Previous experience as a Construction Superintendent, Site Superintendent, General Foreman, Foreman, Construction Supervisor, or similar role
- Robust knowledge of building construction and trade sequencing
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of construction quality and workmanship
- Ability to identify problems and develop practical field solutions
- Experience coordinating inspections and project closeout
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently without constant direction
- Professional and reliable when dealing with subcontractors, inspectors, consultants, and clients
- Valid driver's licence and reliable vehicle
- Ability and willingness to travel throughout Central Alberta and occasionally Southern Alberta

Experience with small commercial, municipal, institutional, garage/shop, civil/site, concrete, framing, or similar construction projects would be considered an asset.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is someone who has spent significant time in the field and understands how to get construction projects completed.

You should be comfortable walking onto a job site, reviewing what is happening, coordinating the trades, identifying what needs to happen next, resolving routine field issues, and communicating anything requiring management involvement back to the project manager.

Compensation:

This is a part-time, contract position and is not an hourly role.

Compensation will be discussed and agreed upon on a per-project basis, based on the scope, duration, location, anticipated level of involvement, and responsibilities associated with each project.
