Cook’s Helper (Clairmont, AB)
(Full-time Permanent)
About the Role
Lakeview Lodge in Clairmont, Alberta, is seeking a warm, reliable, and team-oriented Cook’s Helper to support our food service operations. In this role, you will assist in delivering nutritious, high-quality meals to our senior residents, maintain a harmonious kitchen workplace, and step in to cover cooking duties as needed.
Position: Full-Time
Initial Location: Lakeview (Clairmont); may be required to work at other sites, as needed.
Schedule: Days 6:30 am to 2:30 pm (7.5 hours)
Shift schedule varies from Sunday to Saturday, approximately 75 hours per pay period;
(May be required to work other shifts & sites)
Compensation: starting at$22.35
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation & Service: Assist with daily meal prep, portioning, and plating in accordance with nutritional standards, the Canada Food Guide, and specialized diets (e.g., diabetic requirements).
- Customer Service: A congenial personality who enjoys working with and for the elderly, and an ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with staff and the public.
- Communication: Good communication skills.
- Service Excellence: Patience, time management skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Physical Capability: Must be physically fit and be able to bend, lift and climb.
- Ability: Ability to stay calm in emergencies and be able to carry out responsibilities listed in the Cook’s Helper , including stepping into the Cook’s role to prepare meals when needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is an asset.
- Experience:
Previous cooking and commercial food preparation experience is required.
- Certifications: Food Safe, WHMIS, First Aid, and CPR certifications are preferred.
- Safety Clearance: A clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (VSC) is required.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to meet the physical demands of a commercial kitchen environment, including standing, bending, lifting, and climbing.
- Assets: A genuine interest and empathy for the care of senior citizens
