Coordinator of Land-Based Camp

This position is primarily land-based and community-focused. Regular travel to Fort Ware (Kwadacha Nation) and participation in outdoor and camp-based activities is required. Candidates must be comfortable working in remote locations, traveling frequently, and spending time outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Wage: $50,000 - $60,000 Annual Salary, dependent upon education and experience

Benefits: Paid sick leave, 3 weeks vacation, comprehensive benefits, and 5.5% employer pension match

Hours: Full-Time (35 hours per week), with a rotation of one week in the community and one week Prince George (Flexibility required to accommodate member needs, and may include evenings and weekends)

Location: Kwadacha Community (Fort Ware) and Prince George Admin Office

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Justice Services, the Coordinator of Land-Based Camp will help plan, organize, and lead land-based justice and healing activities for individuals who may be involved with the criminal justice system,



community justice programming, diversion, alternative measures, reintegration, or other restorative justice processes.

- Support hunting, fishing, food harvesting, traditional land-based activities, and the teaching or support of practical outdoor skills, including safe tool and equipment use.
- Gather, cut, split, haul, and stack firewood, and maintain camps, equipment, and outdoor work areas.
- Help rebuild, repair, and improve community and land-based infrastructure through restorative justice projects and meaningful community service work.
- Coordinate group work projects and ensure participants understand their roles, responsibilities, expectations, accountability activities, and individualized justice plans.
- Support camp set-up, tear-down, transportation, supplies, food preparation, daily camp operations, and the planning and delivery of multi-day and extended remote land-based camps.
- Work alongside Elders, Knowledge Holders, Justice Program staff, and community members.
- Provide encouragement, structure, supervision, and practical support to participants involved with the criminal justice system.
- Maintain clear expectations around safety, respect, sobriety, participation,



and accountability, while supporting conflict resolution and a calm, respectful camp environment.
- Keep basic records related to participation, activities, incidents, supplies, and completed work.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

- Previous experience working in Indigenous communities;
- Experience with restorative justice, corrections, justice programming, addictions, mental health, outreach, or community services;
- Experience supervising work crews, camp participants, youth, or adults in outdoor settings;
- Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, and reference checks;
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, clear Driver’s Abstract, and willingness to travel within Kwadacha
