About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Sr Data Engineer to join McKesson Technology Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) DI Data Architecture and Engineering organization. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced data solutions that support our strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will provide in-depth expertise in data product architecture and engineering, offering analytical insights to facilitate informed decision-making across various business functions.
The Sr Data Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, BI developers, data architects, and delivery leaders. The role emphasizes modernizing our supply chain organization by enabling rapid AI/ML experimentation, operationalizing successful use cases, and monetizing insights through innovative data products. This position offers an exciting opportunity to impact healthcare delivery by enabling data-driven strategies and solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 7 years of robust data engineering experience is required, with a proven track record of building scalable data solutions and products. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in data architecture, enabling the creation of enterprise-wide data solutions.
Hands-on expertise with cloud-based data warehousing and processing platforms such as Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake is essential. Candidates with relevant certifications in these technologies will have an added advantage, demonstrating their commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy cloud-native data applications and pipelines utilizing Azure and Databricks, supporting advanced analytics and digital capabilities across pharmaceutical business domains.
- Manage offshore and nearshore teams to deliver validated, governed, and scalable data products, ensuring adherence to best practices in metadata management, data lineage, and domain-driven design.
- Collaborate with data and platform architecture teams to ensure data product designs align with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks.
- Define and enforce best practices for data quality, scalability, and performance, providing technical leadership and mentorship to global engineering teams.
- Establish standardized dimensional models, ontologies, and semantic structures to promote interoperability and consistency across data domains.
- Apply AI-enabled SDLC practices and automation techniques to enhance system performance, reduce technical debt, and accelerate the delivery of data products.
- Drive seamless data integration across platforms, champion modernization efforts through Azure-native technologies, and optimize workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
