Position: Drafter / Mechanical Designer
Reports To: Technical Engineering Manager
Hours:
· Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
· 1‑hour lunch
· Overtime/weekend work as requested by the above

National Compressed Air Canada Ltd. (NCA) is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of custom‑engineered and standard air and gas compression equipment. With over 60 years of experience, we support customers in Oil & Gas, Mining, Drilling, and Industrial sectors. Our facility is located in Mississauga, ON.
Position Summary The Drafter / Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings, developing mechanical layouts, and supporting the engineering team with design documentation for compressor packages and related industrial equipment. This role is a full-time on-site role at our Mississauga facility, focusing on drafting, detailing, and mechanical accuracy, ensuring all design outputs are complete, organized, and ready for fabrication. Robust mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and proficiency in CAD tools are essential.
Requirements
- Proficient in SolidWorks (3D) and AutoCAD (2D).
- Ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and completeness.
- Self‑motivated, able to seek answers and learn new concepts independently.
- Engineering Technologist Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering Degree.
- Good Understanding of mechanical systems, including electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
- Experience with compressors, industrial machinery, or fabrication environments is an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Drafting & Design
- Create and revise detailed 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Prepare mechanical layouts, frame/skid designs, component drawings, and assembly details.
- Develop ISO piping drawings and assist with piping design calculations.
- Update and maintain mechanical, P&ID;, and electrical schematics as required.
- Prepare compressor package layout drawings for customer quotations.
Engineering & Production Support
- Communicate design details clearly to the shop supervisor and assembly staff.
- Prepare technical specifications for fabricated components and assist with vendor sourcing.
- Provide technical support during fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Engineering Manager.
