Imagine Music Inc. is looking for a warm, enthusiastic, and reliable music teacher to lead interactive music classes for young children (ages 0-6) and teach beginner piano lessons to children ages 4–8.

This is a unique part-time teaching opportunity that combines early childhood group music education with private beginner piano lessons. You’ll lead engaging music activities in daycares, dayhomes, homeschool groups, and other community settings, while also building relationships with families through one-on-one piano lessons.

About the Role

This position is ideal for someone who:

- Genuinely enjoys working with young children, especially ages 0–8
- Is comfortable leading music through singing, movement, rhythm, games, instruments, and creative activities
- Can make basic musical concepts engaging and age-appropriate
- Enjoys teaching beginner piano and introducing young students to music
- Is warm, patient, energetic, and encouraging
- Is confident communicating with parents, caregivers, and daycare staff
- Is organized, dependable, and comfortable managing their own teaching schedule

The position includes both daytime group classes and some evening private lessons.

Responsibilities

Early Childhood & Group Music

- Lead interactive music classes for children ages 0–5
- Teach classes in daycares, dayhomes, homeschool groups, and other community settings
- Use singing, rhythm,



movement, instruments, musical games, and other activities to introduce foundational music concepts
- Create a positive and engaging environment where young children feel comfortable participating
- Adapt activities to different ages, group sizes, and developmental levels

Private Piano Lessons

- Teach beginner piano lessons to children approximately ages 4–8
- Introduce foundational skills including rhythm, note reading, technique, musical concepts, and basic repertoire
- Encourage students while adapting lessons to their age, personality, interests, and learning style
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and learning goals

Qualifications

Applicants should have

- Piano proficiency and the ability to confidently teach beginner piano
- Post-secondary education in music, education, early childhood education, or a related field, OR equivalent teaching/performance experience
- Experience working with children is strongly preferred
- Experience teaching or leading young children or early childhood music activities is an asset
- Experience leading groups, classes, camps, daycare programs, homeschool groups, or similar activities is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A genuine interest in helping children develop confidence and a love of music

We are particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with preschool-aged children and who are comfortable combining music education with play, movement, and creativity.

Requirements





- Reliable vehicle and ability to travel throughout Calgary for group classes and in-home lessons
- Availability for some daytime teaching as well as evening private lessons
- Reside in Calgary
- Ability to complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Willingness to sign a minimum one-year contract
- Professional, dependable, and respectful conduct with students, families, and partner organizations
- Ability to follow Imagine Music policies and procedures
- Comfortable using email and basic computer programs (Excel experience is an asset)
