Job Summary

Reporting to the Applications Manager, the Estimator / Applications Engineer, is an integral part of the ALCO Energy Solutions team. The Estimator / Applications Engineer will lead estimating activities during the bid stage in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and be responsible for putting together firm bid proposals for the entire Alco product line. Assigned proposals will include, but not be limited to, Gas sweetening, Gas refrigeration, Deep cut plants, TEG dehydration, Mole sieve gas dehydration, Condensate stabilization, Separator Packages, Carbon capture, Fractionation Trains and Heat medium packages.

Responsibilities

· Work with Sales/Regional Account Managers to ensure expectations of the client/RFP are met.

· Work with the Mechanical, E&I;, and Process Engineering teams to complete proposal designs.

· Complete cost estimates and produce formal quotations for ALCO product lines.

· Request quotations from sub-suppliers for equipment required and review incoming proposals on a technical and commercial basis.

· Provide technical support to other functional groups including project management, drafting, and production during project execution. Work in collaboration with other departments during the project execution. There will be constant interaction/feedback for continuous improvement on future proposals.

· Make recommendations for improved processes and increased efficiency. In essence, work with a goal and mindset to add value to all stakeholders involved.

· Initiate/prepare piping / instrument diagrams (P&ID;’s).

· Handoff/kick off proposals post-award to communicate all package requirements to different departments (Engineering, project management, drafting, production, etc.).

· Initiate/prepare preliminary general arrangements.

· Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of proposals.

· Review and evaluate project specifications.

· Ensure completeness of the proposal (technical and commercial), including all deliverables in adherence to the RFP.





· Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications / Experience

· Diploma or degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, or Industrial Engineering (or a related engineering technology program); P.Eng., EIT, or C.E.T. designation is an asset.

· Minimum 3-5 years of experience in applications engineering, proposals/estimating, or technical sales support role within an industrial fabrication, oil and gas, or process equipment manufacturing environment.

· Demonstrated experience preparing cost estimates, formal quotations, and technical/commercial proposals in response to client and RFP requirements.

· Working knowledge of piping and instrument diagrams (P&ID;'s), general arrangement drawings, and mechanical/process equipment design principles.

· Familiarity with industry codes and standards applicable to industrial fabrication (e.g., ASME, CSA, API) is an asset.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with AutoCAD or similar design software and ERP/estimating systems is an asset.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with Sales, Engineering, sub-suppliers, and clients.

· Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent proposals, meet competing deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a continuous improvement mindset and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

· Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally to client or supplier sites, as required.

Physical Requirements





· Primarily an office-based role requiring extended periods of sitting and computer use, including reading and reviewing detailed technical drawings and specifications.

· Requires sustained visual concentration and manual dexterity for prolonged computer, telephone, and paperwork tasks.

· Occasional travel to client sites, supplier facilities, or the ALCO fabrication shop, which may require the use of personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed footwear) in accordance with ALCO's health and safety program.

· Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and handle documents, drawing sets, or samples weighing up to approximately 20 lbs (9 kg).

· May be required to work extended hours periodically to meet proposal or project deadlines.

· Ability to work in an environment with occasional exposure to shop floor conditions (noise, temperature variation, machinery) during site walkthroughs.
