Facility Maintenance/Janitorial Ambassador

About the SLCC The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre is an Indigenous owned not for profit. We embody the spirit of partnership between two unique Nations who wish to preserve, grow and share their traditional cultures. At the SLCC our purpose is to uplift the Sḵwxwú7mesh and Lílwat7úl people, with pride and visibility on their land.

About the Role

While you might be behind the scenes, this role is integral to the success of the SLCC. Part maintenance person, part cleaner, part event set-up/tear-down, part special projects, you are ready to roll up your sleeves to help out.

This is a full-time role (30 – 40 hours/week. The hourly wage band is $21.00 – 25.00/hour based on experience. The role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Included in compensation is a WB season pass, health benefits, discounts on food and retail.

What we count on you for – Key Deliverables and Expectations:

Operations

· Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and efficient working order of our buildings and grounds. This includes:

o Adhere to daily cleaning schedule for all areas of our facility.

o Maintaining building waste and recycling program.

o Procurement of cleaning supplies o Notifying maintenance manager of equipment deficiencies, or facility repairs (routine and emergency).

o Light landscaping duties o Winter snow clearing

·Supporting the manager with routine maintenance and repair tasks. This includes:

o Completion of operating checklists for vehicles

· Helping with special projects.

· Assisting events dept with set up, equipment/exhibit removal and facility prep

· Assisting curatorial team with exhibit set up, repairs, changeovers and receiving/delivering culturally significant artifacts.

· Adhere to all SLCC Policies and Procedures.

What you will bring to the team (experience and attributes):

Attributes

· Some knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing systems.

· Ability to read manuals and checklists.

· Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative

· Willing to take initiative.

· Good communicator and willing to be part of a fast-paced environment.

· Physical stamina and dexterity are required.

· Proven team player, able to take direction to ensure tasks are completed.

· Respect and compassion for our First Nations communities and members

Experience and Education

· 1-2 years experience in cleaning and general maintenance are required.

· Ability to lift, move up to 50lbs and can physically do the cleaning and maintenance work required.

· First Aid, WHMIS training an asset (training can be provided by SLCC).

· Driver’s license an asset

· Flexible to work wide-ranging schedule which may include weekends, early mornings and evenings.

· Clear criminal background check required upon hire.
