The Fashion and Giftware Associate reports to the Floor Manager and provides customers with a welcoming and personalized shopping experience. This position assists customers with fashion and giftware selections, maintains attractive product displays, and supports the daily operation of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities - Greet customers and create a welcoming and positive shopping environment - Provide attentive customer service by answering questions, identifying customer needs, and recommending suitable products - Assist customers with clothing selections, sizing, coordinating outfits, accessories, and gift ideas - Monitor fitting rooms, return unwanted merchandise to the sales floor, and ensure fitting rooms remain clean and organized - Maximize sales opportunities through product recommendations and awareness of promotions and the customer rewards program - Maintain current knowledge of fashion products, seasonal trends, recent arrivals, promotions, and store programs - Receive, unpack, inspect, price, and prepare fashion and giftware products for the sales floor - Steam, fold, hang, and organize clothing according to store standards - Replenish merchandise and ensure products are properly sized, priced, tagged, and displayed - Merchandise clothing racks, tables, shelves, mannequins, and feature displays to create an appealing and organized department - Update mannequin outfits and displays to reflect seasonal trends, promotions, and available inventory - Maintain a clean and organized sales floor, fitting-room, display,
and stockroom areas - Assist with inventory counts, product transfers, markdowns, price changes, and identifying low-stock items - Take customers' selected fashion items to the front cash and direct customers to the checkout area to complete their purchases.
- Handle products carefully and report damaged, missing, or incorrectly priced merchandise.
- Remain attentive to potential theft, suspicious activity, and other loss-prevention concerns, and report concerns to a manager - Complete assigned opening and closing procedures - Support other store departments during busy periods as required - Follow all company policies, procedures, health and safety requirements, and customer service standards - Perform other related duties as assigned Qualifications - Previous retail experience, preferably in fashion, giftware, or a boutique-style workplace.
- Solid customer service and communication skills - An interest in fashion, styling, merchandising, and current trends - Confident when assisting customers with product selection and purchasing decisions - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment - Comfortable using a point-of-sale system and handling customer transactions - Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as required - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and safely lift, carry, and move merchandise as required
