Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead their financial operations.

This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements while providing financial insight to support business decisions.

The Controller will play a key role in safeguarding the financial health of the business and guiding their leadership team with timely, accurate, and meaningful financial information.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee all accounting and financial functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month/year-end close
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis; provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions
- Monitor cash flow, banking relationships, and credit facilities to ensure optimal financial health
- Ensure compliance with all tax, regulatory, and reporting obligations
- Partner with external auditors, providing required documentation and responding to inquiries
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies, processes, and internal controls that promote efficiency and safeguard assets
- Lead, coach, and support the accounting/finance team, fostering continuous improvement and professional development
- Collaborate with leadership to provide financial perspectives that inform business strategy

Qualifications & Experience

- Education:



Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business; CPA designation preferred

Experience: · Minimum 5 years in accounting, with a proven track record in a Controller role

- Demonstrated success in managing financial operations

Technical Skills: Proficiency with accounting software; advanced MS Excel skills.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
- Clear and professional communication skills, able to explain financial concepts to non-financial leaders.

- Advanced financial reporting and analysis (monthly, quarterly, annual)
- Budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Strong command of accounting processes (A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger)
- High-level proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, pivot tables, reporting)
- Cash flow management and banking relationship oversight
- Audit preparation and support for external auditors

- Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards

- Familiarity with tax compliance, regulatory frameworks, and reporting obligations in Ontario/Canada
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks and risk management practices
- Awareness of business strategy, operational drivers, and profitability levers
- Familiarity with HR/payroll compliance as it relates to financial reporting
- Knowledge of technology and systems integration to optimize efficiency

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
