We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fleet Supervisor to lead our delivery and warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of in-home delivery service while providing strong leadership to drivers, helpers, dispatchers, and warehouse teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest standard of customer service and in-home delivery is consistently achieved.
- Lead daily fleet operations, including dispatch, route planning, customer service, delivery execution, and end-of-day reconciliation.
- Supervise, coach, motivate, and support drivers, helpers, dispatch staff, and warehouse employees.
- Plan staffing requirements and coordinate daily work assignments to meet delivery volumes and operational needs.
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and develop employees.
- Conduct performance evaluations and address attendance, conduct, and performance concerns promptly and professionally.
- Review and approve employee hours, payroll records, overtime, vacation requests, and attendance information within established deadlines.
- Oversee product sorting, route staging, loading, and preparation of merchandise for delivery.
- Supervise warehouse offload and cash-in teams following the completion of deliveries.
- Complete daily stock checks and balance inventory with receiving and delivery reports.
- Verify drivers’ paperwork, cash collections, delivery documents, and returned merchandise.
- Conduct driver load-out and check-in processes, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and complete.
- Monitor delivery performance, productivity, customer satisfaction, damages,
and failed deliveries.
- Investigate customer concerns, delivery issues, product damages, shortages, and operational discrepancies.
- Promote a positive, respectful, accountable, and team-oriented workplace.
- Conduct regular team meetings, safety talks, coaching sessions, and operational updates.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety requirements, transportation regulations, and Hours-of-Service requirements.
- Monitor vehicle condition and coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure daily vehicle inspections are completed, and defects are reported and addressed.
- Monitor the use of company vehicles, fuel, equipment, and other operational resources.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve productivity, and strengthen delivery performance.
- Review operational reports and provide management with updates regarding staffing, fleet performance, service levels, and expenses.
- Support management with audits, investigations, corrective-action plans, and other operational initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the business.
Qualifications
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience in fleet, transportation, in-home delivery, logistics,
or warehouse operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing drivers, helpers, dispatchers, or warehouse employees.
- Valid driver’s licence with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Knowledge of fleet operations, dispatching, routing, delivery procedures, and warehouse processes.
- Experience reviewing payroll, timekeeping, attendance, and scheduling records.
- Solid coaching, conflict-resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to resolve concerns professionally.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Familiarity with transportation-management, payroll, routing, or warehouse-management systems is an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety and transportation regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally required.
- Ability to safely lift and carry merchandise weighing more than 30 lb when required.
