AB Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic French Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will deliver engaging French instruction to students in Grades 4–8, fostering confidence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while nurturing an appreciation for the French language and Francophone cultures.
Instruction is aligned with the Ontario Curriculum and emphasizes communication, inquiry-based learning, and authentic language experiences. Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging French lessons aligned with the Ontario Curriculum for Grades 4–8.
- Foster students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through communicative and interactive teaching strategies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with varying learning profiles.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages confidence, collaboration, and respect.
- Assess, evaluate, and provide timely, constructive feedback on student progress.
- Integrate technology and authentic resources to enhance language learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support cross-curricular learning and school initiatives.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and ongoing career development.
- Support the mission, values, and educational philosophy of the school.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certification or eligibility for certification.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Core French curriculum.
- Excellent proficiency in spoken and written French.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience teaching Core French at the Elementary and/or Middle School level.
- French as a Second Language (FSL) Additional Qualification is considered an asset.
- Experience working with English Language Learners and students with diverse learning needs.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
