Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions of ALL-PRO Corp Ltd. The ideal candidate will have robust knowledge of Canadian accounting practices, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage financial records accurately and confidentially.
The Full-Cycle Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining complete and accurate financial records from transaction entry through month-end reporting, while ensuring compliance with applicable Canadian tax and accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete bookkeeping cycle from day-to-day transaction recording through month-end close.
- Record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, deposits, and other financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries and account adjustments.
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial documentation.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices and payments.
- Monitor outstanding accounts payable and ensure payments are made accurately and on time.
- Prepare customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable.
- Follow up on outstanding customer balances when required.
- Maintain accurate vendor and customer records.
Payroll Support
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule, where applicable.
- Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with payroll remittances and year-end payroll requirements.
- Ensure payroll-related transactions are properly recorded in the accounting system.
Canadian Tax & Compliance
- Assist with the preparation and filing of GST/HST, PST, and other applicable sales tax returns.
- Maintain accurate records to support tax filings.
- Assist with T4, T4A, and other year-end reporting requirements, as applicable.
- Ensure bookkeeping records are maintained in accordance with Canadian accounting and tax requirements.
- Work with external accountants or tax professionals during year-end and tax preparation.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly and periodic financial statements and reports.
- Provide management with accurate financial information and reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow reporting.
- Identify unusual transactions, discrepancies, or financial trends and communicate them to management.
- Assist with year-end preparation and provide supporting schedules and documentation to accountants.
Qualifications
- 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Canadian bookkeeping and accounting practices.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or other accounting software.
- Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST and applicable provincial sales taxes.
- Experience with payroll and payroll remittances is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
Experience with the following is considered an asset:
- QuickBooks Online- Mandatory
- Payroll systems
- CRA remittances and reporting
- GST/HST and provincial sales tax
- T4/T4A preparation
- Month-end and year-end close
- Financial statement preparation
- Multi-company bookkeeping
- Construction, professional services, retail, or other small-to-medium business environments.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who can take ownership of the entire bookkeeping process, work independently, and keep financial records accurate and organized without requiring constant supervision. You should be comfortable identifying discrepancies, solving bookkeeping issues, meeting deadlines, and communicating financial information clearly to business owners and management.
