In the Black Bookkeeping Services

Canada

Company Overview In The Black Bookkeeping Services Ltd. has been a trusted partner in financial management for over 13 years, serving businesses in the Okanagan, BC and beyond. Our mission is to help organizations achieve financial clarity and stability through expert bookkeeping and accounting solutions. We pride ourselves on integrity, precision, and teamwork, delivering services that allow our clients to focus on growth while we handle the numbers.

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to join our dedicated team in providing comprehensive bookkeeping services to our diverse client base. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage all aspects of client accounting, from initial setup to ongoing reconciliation and reporting. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering top-tier financial support that empowers businesses to thrive.

Responsibilities

- Daily transaction posting, AP/AR, and Dext document processing on your assigned files
- Set up and maintain Dext rules to create efficiencies in posting
- Complete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations (bank, credit card, and all other balance sheet accounts) and GL review
- Perform account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and resolve them promptly
- Prepare month-end and year-end working papers and reconciliations for senior sign-off
- Process payroll and prepare T4, T4A, and T5018 filings
- Prepare and file GST/PST, WCB, EHT, and source deduction remittances
- Manage corporate tax compliance by tracking and ensuring instalments are paid on time
- Complete difficult, and sometimes messy, catch-up bookkeeping on client files
- Communicate directly with clients and suppliers, manage client inboxes, and respond within 24 hours

- Maintain weekly cash flow projections
- Track your time accurately across client files and meet all internal and external deadlines

Skills
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, ideally in a public practice or multi-client environment
- Proven ability to manage a heavy, shifting workload in a fast-paced setting without letting accuracy slip
- Extremely detail-oriented: you catch the small things before they become big things
- Strong time management: you plan your week around deadlines, not the other way around
- Very comfortable with messy catch-up client work: rebuilding months or years of records from incomplete source documents doesn't faze you
- Can jump into a new file or task with a can-do attitude and figure it out
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll and CRA remittance requirements
- Experience using all modules in QuickBooks Online (banking, sales, expenses, payroll, sales tax, reports, projects/classes), Dext, and SharePoint; Financial Cents is an asset
- Experience with Sage 50, QuickBooks Desktop, or AccountEdge is an asset
- Self-directed and reliable in a remote setting, with a dedicated home office in BC
- Clear, professional communication with clients and team members
- Certified bookkeeper (CPB) with a post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting is an asset; QBO certification is also an asset
