Description

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the General Accountant is responsible for providing full cycle financial/accounting support for the organization. Responsibilities will include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures.

Responsibilities

- Perform all full-cycle accounting duties
- Prepare adjusting journal entries for accruals, prepaids, fixed asset depreciation, etc.
- Ensure Sales, VAT/GST or Use Tax is filed on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and related subledgers to ensure accurate records.
- Assist in day-to-day banking/cashflow.
- Support A/P and A/R to ensure minimal backlog.
- Support the preparation of month financial statements including loading to the corporate consolidation reporting software (Lucanet).
- Support annual audit with external auditors including assistance with preparing audit schedules, audit requests and support of year-end audit requirements.




- Support fixed asset management including depreciation entries, capital asset additions, disposals, tracking, and reconciliation.
- Participate in month-end and year-end financial reporting including preparing recurring entries and schedules.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and other duties as requiredAct as a key finance contact for system enhancements, ERP/SAP upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Lead or support special projects, including sub-ledger/GR/IR cleanup, ACH/EHT batch setup, archiving, and records management.
- Assist with investigations, reconciliations, and financial analysis projects as assigned.
- Strong manufacturing process understanding.
- Self-Starter – ability to work independently and apply a hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication skills
- Advanced MS Office skills; particularly Excel, pivot tables, etc.
- Strong aptitude for learning, understanding systems, and making recommendations to improve processes.
- Detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy, prioritizing and problem-solving.
- Possesses a strategic mindset, strive to simplify and understand the process and expected results for year-to-date totals.
- Adaptable and willing to embrace change in a growing company.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA designation or actively pursuing is an asset.




- 1 – 3 years of accounting experience (required).
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Strong Understanding of ERP & SAP S/4HANA (preferred).
