Job Summary The General Labourer – Processing supports the initial stages of production by preparing materials and parts for fabrication and welding. Reporting to the Shop Coordinator, this role assists with material handling, cutting, basic part preparation, and staging while helping the Processing Department maintain a safe, organized, and efficient workflow and meet daily production requirements.

Responsibilities

- Load, unload, move, and stage steel, raw materials, and parts throughout the Processing Department and production areas.
- Operate saws and other processing equipment as required, with training provided.
- Perform basic grinding, deburring, cleaning, and preparation of parts to ensure they are ready for the next stage of production.
- Tag, identify, organize, and stage raw materials and cut parts according to work orders to support accurate and efficient production flow.
- Safely operate machinery, hand tools, power tools, and handle materials in accordance with company procedures and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area while supporting general housekeeping within the department.




- Accurately clock in and out of assigned jobs and projects and follow instructions from the Shop Coordinator and lead hands.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support daily production requirements and maintain a respectful and productive workplace.

Qualifications

- Physically capable of frequently lifting 10–40 lbs. and performing work that involves standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and other physical activities for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment, including occasional outdoor work.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic measurements and calculations using both imperial and metric units.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand and power tools; experience with metalworking or processing equipment is an asset.
- Previous experience in metal fabrication, material processing, or manufacturing is an asset but not required.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Steel-toe safety footwear is mandatory.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, quality, and maintaining a productive workplace.
