DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated, positive and dependable full-timeGIS Analystto join our team of Forest Professionals in GOLDEN, BCAs a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining, displaying and troubleshooting GIS maps and databases for forestry-based projects in the Natural Resource sector.This role involves working closely with both staff and clients to complete a variety of GIS tasks to meet client deliverables. You will work as part of a team of GIS professionals on a range of projects, leveraging your GIS expertise and client interaction skills. A key aspect of this position is your eagerness to learn, adapt, and innovate in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
Duties The responsibilities of a GIS Analyst will include, but not limited to:
- Spatial data management and analysis
- Developing and delivering on operational mapping projects with tight timelines
- Managing incoming field-collected data
- Converting, importing, managing, and manipulating data from a variety of sources
- Performing QA/QC tasks to ensure GIS data integrity
- Using LRM
- Troubleshooting issues related to GIS and web-based mapping systems
- Maintenance and development of GIS infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications - Formal education in GIS, with a background in Natural Resources, Geography, or Computer Science
- A minimum of two (2) years of GIS experience working on natural resource based mapping projects
- Experience using Esri, QGIS, and mobile products for data collection, mapping, and analysis
- Experience leveraging map series or other methods for automated map production
- Excellent data management and cartographic skills
- Strong reasoning and troubleshooting abilities, with attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service
