About the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team
Corporate Communications and Public Affairs is a group of communications advisors, social media advisors, web programmers and media relations specialists. We’re also a fun, collaborative group of individuals who support each other in our work and are always ready to pitch in to help a colleague. Together, we are responsible for reputation management, internal and external communications, branding, media relations, digital media, government and stakeholder relations and community engagement.
The department works across the network and works collaboratively with the network’s two foundations.
As a Graphics Designer within the Communications and Public Affairs team, you play an integral role in contributing to Unity Health Toronto’s local, national and international reputation as a leader in the treatment of critical care, serious illnesses, community health, rehab and complex continuing care, and research and education that impact patient care.
Position overview:
We are looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to perform work of value.
The ideal candidate is someone skilled at client management with a wide range of stakeholders. They must also be able to balance multiple short- and long-term projects in a deadline-driven, team-oriented workplace. The position supports strategic initiatives led by the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team, as well as internal clients with graphics design needs.
Key responsibilities include
- Editorial content development: Produce visual content for social media and web in partnership with corporate communications team members, such as multimedia storytelling campaigns.
- Corporate communications: Work with communications advisors and managers to lead brainstorming sessions, produce creative briefs, and create materials for major strategic initiatives and campaigns.
- Other communications responsibilities: Work with internal clients, including program leaders, to provide a full range of graphic design support including but not limited to posters, medical forms, stationary, screensavers and other graphics duties as required.
- Please note: The role is hybrid and requires the candidate to work on site at least three days per week.
Desired skills and qualifications:
- A completed undergraduate degree and/or pursuing studies in graphic design or a related field
- Experience working in a hospital setting, the public sector or a corporate environment is an asset.
- Proficiency with the Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Strong understanding of design principles and branding guidelines
- Highly attentive to detail, layout, colour and typography
- Excellent verbal communications skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Results oriented, self-directed, outstanding organization and time management skills
- High energy, flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team workplace
- Listener, creative thinker, decision maker, problem solver; takes responsibility, and demonstrates personal integrity and honesty.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing work orders at various stages of completion and keep focused, paying close attention to detail.
- Able to establish and manage priorities to meet customer deadlines (individual and corporate).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills with an emphasis on quality of work outcomes.
