About the Role
ANC Modular Inc. is looking for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Lead to join our team in Brantford, Ontario.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is comfortable working across both manufacturing/fabrication and active construction environments. The HSE Lead will be the primary point of accountability for the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of ANC's Health, Safety & Environment management system.
The successful candidate will work closely with employees, supervisors, and leadership to strengthen our safety culture, support regulatory compliance, manage workplace injuries and WSIB claims, and advance our ISO and COR initiatives.
What You'll Be Responsible For
As our HSE Lead, you will:
- Develop, implement, and maintain ANC's HSE management system, including policies, procedures, safe work practices, and supporting documentation.
- Support the development and maintenance of management systems aligned with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001, as applicable.
- Coordinate COR certification activities following ISO implementation.
- Lead workplace inspections, incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Lead and support the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC), including meetings, inspections, investigations, training, and follow-up activities.
- Manage full-cycle WSIB claims and disability management, including reporting, documentation, claims management, and communication with WSIB and healthcare providers.
- Coordinate early and safe return-to-work, review functional abilities information, and work with leadership to develop appropriate modified work plans.
- Monitor claim progress, costs, outcomes, and related documentation.
- Provide hands-on HSE support to our fabrication facility and active construction sites.
- Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, job safety reviews, risk assessments, and contractor safety oversight.
- Exercise the authority to stop unsafe work where conditions present unacceptable risk.
- Support contractor and subcontractor safety prequalification, onboarding, and ongoing compliance.
- Develop and deliver HSE training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
- Coach supervisors and leaders on their health, safety, environmental, and return-to-work responsibilities.
- Promote a proactive safety culture built around prevention, accountability, employee involvement, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate brings
- A diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Disability Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Human Resources, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive HSE experience within manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or an industrial setting.
- Demonstrated experience managing WSIB claims and disability management programs.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario occupational health and safety, environmental, WSIB, and disability management requirements.
- Experience coordinating early and safe return-to-work programs.
- Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience developing policies, procedures, training materials, and management-system documentation.
- Experience developing, implementing, or maintaining ISO-aligned management systems is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, case-management, and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to influence and coach others while working collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
Work Environment This role is based primarily at our Brantford fabrication facility and includes regular interaction with our production teams as well as visits to active construction sites. Some travel to project sites will be required.
Candidates must be comfortable working in office, manufacturing, fabrication, and construction-site environments and able to meet the physical demands associated with site work.
Compensation
$90,000–$110,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
