Hamilton / Stoney Creek – Rymal Rd E & Upper Red Hill Valley Pkwy Area

$20–$25 per hour | 3–4 days per week

We’re a busy family with three young boys, ages 5, 3 and 7 months, looking for a dependable, organized and proactive Household Assistant / Mother’s Helper to become a regular extra set of hands in our home.

This is a long-term, primarily household-focused position rather than a traditional nanny role. During the week, our 5-year-old is in school until 2:30 p.m. and our 3-year-old attends daycare full-time. Our 7-month-old is currently home during the day, with plans to gradually transition him to daycare after he turns one, likely sometime between February and late spring.

As he transitions to daycare, the role will become even more focused on household organization, errands and helping us stay on top of day-to-day life.

We also have professional cleaners who come every two weeks, so this is not a deep-cleaning position. We’re looking for someone to help with the everyday tidying, laundry, organization, errands and miscellaneous household jobs that pile up in a busy home with three young children.

Responsibilities

Duties will vary from day to day and may include:

- General tidying and light cleaning between visits from our professional cleaners
- Laundry, folding and putting clothing away
- Keeping the kitchen and common areas tidy
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher
- Changing bedding and other general household upkeep
- Organizing closets, cupboards, toys, children's clothing, storage areas, etc.
- Sorting, packing and unpacking seasonal items and household storage
- Running errands, grocery pickups, returns and other household-related trips
- Simple meal and snack preparation




- Gathering household garbage/recycling and taking bins out or bringing them back in
- Helping keep the garage, backyard and other household areas tidy and organized
- Changing cat litter, furnace filters and assisting with similar routine household tasks
- Moving or lifting household items such as storage totes, bins, boxes and seasonal decorations
- Helping with other miscellaneous projects and tasks as they come up

Childcare There will also be some childcare involved, particularly with our 7-month-old while he is still home during the day. This could include:

- Taking the baby for walks or outings
- Playing with and supervising the baby while I get other things done
- Taking the children to the park or other nearby activities
- Occasionally helping with the children after school/daycare
- Occasional evening or weekend childcare

Our youngest will eventually transition to daycare after turning one, so we expect the childcare portion of this position to decrease over time while the household-assistant responsibilities remain ongoing. I will often be home, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable working alongside a parent and taking initiative independently.

- Organized and able to work independently
- Proactive and able to notice what needs to be done without always waiting for a list
- Adaptable and willing to help with a variety of household tasks
- Comfortable with physical household tasks, including bending, carrying and lifting/moving reasonably weighted totes, bins and household items
- Comfortable working in a home with children and a cat
- Interested in becoming a consistent, long-term part of our family's routine

Previous experience in housekeeping, household management, nannying, childcare, personal assistance or a similar role is an asset. A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle are preferred, as the position may involve errands and occasional outings with the children.

Schedule & Compensation

3–4 days per week, Monday–Friday

Occasional evening or weekend availability would be appreciated.

$20–$25 per hour, depending on experience.
