Hourly Wage: $31.15 - $36.66
The IPAC Lead provides oversight and leadership to the Infection Prevention and
Control programs for the organization’s long-term care operations. They ensure that effective and timely infection prevention and control practices, policies, and procedures are embedded in all areas, based on best practice guidelines, and determine training requirements to ensure compliance with legislation, directives,
policies and procedures. The IPAC Lead works as part of the management team to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of services to residents and staff.
General Accountabilities
- Working with the interdisciplinary team to implement the infection prevention and control program
- Managing and overseeing the infection prevention and control program
- Overseeing the delivery of infection prevention and control education to all staff, caregivers, volunteers, visitors and residents
- Auditing of infection prevention and control practices in the home
- Conducting regular infectious disease surveillance
- Convening the Outbreak Management Team at the outset of an outbreak and regularly throughout and outbreak
- Convening the interdisciplinary infection prevention and control team referred to in subsection (4) at least quarterly, and at a more frequent interval during an
- infectious disease outbreak in the home
- Reviewing the information gathered pursuant to subsection (9)
- Reviewing any daily and monthly screening results collected by the licensee todetermine whether any action is required
- Implementing required improvements to the infection prevention and control program as required by audits under paragraph 4 or by the licensee
- Ensuring that there is in place hand hygiene program in accordance with any standard or protocol issues by the Director under subsection (2) which
- included, at a minimum, access to hand hygiene agents at point-of-care
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse, Registered Practical Nurse,
or university degree in a Health Sciences or Social Sciences discipline with current registration with related
- governing professional association
- Current Certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control OR commitment to obtain certification within the next three years.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in in a long term care or hospital setting with at least two (2) years leading/coordinating/managing an infection prevention, assessment and control program or project.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and to be flexible, innovative and creative
- Strong project management skills with a proven ability to facilitate and manage change in a dynamic and highly multitasking work workplace
- Excellent communication, time management and employee relations skills
- Demonstrated management and/or supervisory experience is an assetWorking at St.

St. Joseph’s Health Centre oversees the operations of St. Joseph’s Villa (a
128-bed long term care home) and St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre (a 64-
bed continuing care hospital) in Sudbury, and Villa St. Gabriel Villa (a 128-bed long term care home) in Chelmsford. Our Administrative team supports all three facilities and manages clinical, operational and financial services.
