Location/Dept: Prov Outreach Program Hours: 35.00 12 Months Per Year Start Date: SEP. 24, 2026 Term of Employment: Continuing Salary: $33.95 Per Hour

Posted: SEP. 11, 2026 Application Deadline: 12:00 P.M., FRIDAY, SEP. 18, 2026 Summary Reports to and works under the direction of the Administrative Officer, Provincial Resource Program/Provincial Outreach Program (PRP/POP).

Performs accounting and clerical duties to support the accounting, purchasing and budgeting functions of the Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders (POPARD).

Duties

- Monitors and maintains computerized accounting system for program accounts; collects cash and cheques, issues receipts; prepares and makes bank deposits; issues cheques; reconciles bank statements; prepares monthly and year end trial balance, GST & PST reports; Maintains petty cash account and reconciles it monthly.
- Regularly monitors, reconciles and analyzes financial data taking into consideration known and future expense transactions to determine if there are any irregularities or areas of concern. Prepares correcting and transfer journal entries and budget transfers required as a result of the account analysis and reconciliation.



Financial data includes: financial reports prepared by Financial Services; data in the financial accounting system; purchasing (encumbrance) system; payroll system, etc. Monitors expenditure levels to ensure conformity to approved budget allocations; prepares monthly program financial summaries and reviews monthly financial results with administrator.
- Performs purchasing duties. Prepares approved purchase orders and receives supplies; verifies orders received and invoices; contacts suppliers; codes invoices and verifies expense claims; reconciles procurement card monthly. Presents documents to administrator for approval. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; prepares orders.
- For external fee-for-service consultant work, prepares invoices and maintains accounts receivables, ensuring timely collection of outstanding amounts. Regularly prepares a report on the status of the external fee-for-service consultant work. Submits fee-for-service invoices for approval.
- Assists the administrator in the preparation of the annual program budgets, accompanying documents, data and Ministry reports.
- Compiles and analyses program statistics using designated software. Inputs source data into statistics programs; assists the administrator and consultants with the analysis of research data. Assists with the completion of the annual Performance Outcomes Report.
- Composes routine correspondence and memos. Keyboards/types, photocopies, collates, distributes and files a variety of reports, forms, statistical data and materials as required.
- May be required to provide relief receptionist duties and perform general clerical duties. Responds to a variety of external/internal inquiries both by telephone and in person.
- Remains current with changing technology,



practices, accounting concepts (GAAP for not-for-profit organizations), Ministry and District policies and guidelines, taxes (PST/GST) and equipment.
- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Successful completion of a secondary school graduation program or equivalent. Education equivalent to the third level of the CGA/CMA designation or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of five years of recent and related accounting experience, in a computerized financial accounting department, preferable in a public sector environment. The accounting experience should be of an intermediate level with a solid understanding of all aspects of the balance sheet. Knowledge of the principles of public sector purchasing would be an asset.

An advanced level of computer literacy including extensive experience using financial software, spreadsheets, and word processing. Familiarity with statistical software is an asset.

Strong communication skills, to be able to clearly and concisely explain financial and procedural concepts and policies. Demonstrates initiative and is able to work either in a team workplace or independently with a minimum of supervision.

Ability to work quickly and accurately with figures and with frequent interruptions.

Demonstrates judgment and tact when providing information to internal and external parties.

Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.

Physically capable of performing the duties.

Knowledge of WorkSafe BC and WHMIS regulations. Safe work practices.
