Key Responsibilities The Journeyperson Mechanic is responsible for servicing/repairing SOUTHLAND school buses in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. This position is not confined to shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses.
- Ongoing maintenance/repair of buses
- Diagnose equipment problems
- CVIP Inspections
- Respond to breakdowns
- Spring and winter maintenance
- Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs
- Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities
- Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines
Requirements
- Journeyperson Ticket (Autotmotive, Heavy Duty)
- Must possess own tools for the job
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- 2 – 5 years related experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset
- Exposure to working on diesel, propane, and gasoline engines
- Experience with automatic transmissions
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Strong diagnostic skills
- Computer proficiency
Remuneration
- $42.50 per hour
- Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday)

- Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year)
