Job Title: JR Control System Specialist

Location: Brantford, ON; Brampton, ON; Chicago, IL; Coming up Fort Erie, ON; Halifax, NS

The following basic provides a general overview of the role and is subject to change.

Responsibilities

- Work collaboratively with the engineering team to integrate new warehouse automation designs into existing electrical/electronic and control systems to meet customer specifications, contracts, and new business development requirements.
- Responsible for the startup and commissioning of machines and developing operating standards for electrical/electronic systems and equipment with support from the factory.
- Support the installation and configuration of control systems comprising servo controllers, drives, motion control systems, custom PLC programming, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) .
- Oversee technicians and electricians and inspect the installation and operation of electrical/electronic systems and equipment in office.
- Study and modify electrical schematics/designs and investigate electrical/electronic failures.
- Participate in equipment testing to ensure components and systems conform to engineering design, relevant safety standards, performance codes, Occupational Health and Safety requirements, and customer specifications.
- Assist the Factory Engineering Team in preparing detailed supporting documentation, technical manuals, release notes, user documentation, and related materials.
- Provide training on automated solutions to end users to minimize downtime while remaining compliant with established regulatory and customer safety protocols.
- Support the Sales team by providing technical support during the commercial sales process as required.
- Provide PLC support to existing clients as part of the aftermarket support process.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Demonstrate strong people skills with a polite and professional demeanor when working with other companies, customers, consumers, and coworkers.




- Must be willing and able to travel extensively throughout North America , including prolonged periods when required. This includes having a suitable driver's license, clean driving record, and valid passport.
- Be responsive to after-hours support calls when required.

Qualifications Skill Area What I would look for Priority

- C# / .NET – Critical
- Strong experience with C#, .NET/.NET Core, services, background workers, and asynchronous programming.
- SQL / Databases – Critical
- Strong experience with SQL Server, stored procedures, transactions, indexing, and query optimization.
- REST APIs – Critical
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and error handling.
- WMS Business Logic – Critical
- Knowledge of inventory, locations, pallets/LPNs, orders, movements, replenishment, picking, receiving, and shipping.
- Automation Integration – Critical
- Experience integrating WMS with automated equipment and control systems.
- ERP Integration – High
- Experience connecting AWMS with customer ERP systems and exchanging orders, inventory, and status information.
- Messaging / Events – High
- Experience with queues, event-driven processing, retry logic, and message acknowledgement.
- Real-Time Processing – High
- Experience processing equipment status, movements, alarms, and inventory transactions.
- System Architecture – High
- Knowledge of service architecture, scalability, redundancy, and fault recovery.
- Testing – High
- Experience with unit, integration, simulation, and end-to-end testing.
- Logging / Diagnostics – High
- Experience with structured logging, troubleshooting, and tracing transactions across systems.
- Security – High
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, roles, API security, and secure communications.
- Git / DevOps – Medium–High
- Experience with Git, CI/CD, deployment, and version control.

Industrial Automation
- Knowledge of PLC, WCS, conveyor, and AS/RS concepts .
- Understanding of automated equipment states is a major advantage.
