Brooklin

Wrenport Academy is a small, relationship-centered micro-school rooted in attachment, curiosity, and child-led learning. We believe that in the right environment, with thoughtful guidance and nurturing, children grow into confident, capable, and authentic individuals.

Our approach blends

- Structured literacy grounded in the Science of Reading (Orton-Gillingham informed)
- Daily outdoor, nature-focused experiences
- An attachment-based, co-regulated classroom environment

We are not bound by a rigid curriculum. Instead, we honour each child’s developmental readiness, interests, and pace—creating a responsive and deeply engaging learning experience.

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking a thoughtful, reflective educator who sees teaching as both an art and a practice of continuous inquiry. This role is ideal for someone who values connection over control, curiosity over compliance, and depth over speed.

You are someone who:

- Builds strong, trusting relationships with children and families
- Views behaviour through an attachment and co-regulation lens
- Is inspired by child-led, inquiry-based learning
- Is comfortable stepping outside traditional teaching models
- Finds joy in spending extended time outdoors in all seasons
- Sees yourself as a guide, collaborator, and researcher alongside children

Key Responsibilities

- Co-create a responsive, emergent curriculum based on student interests
- Deliver explicit, systematic literacy instruction using structured literacy approaches

- Design meaningful provocations and learning experiences
- Support children’s social-emotional development through connection and co-regulation
- Facilitate outdoor learning and community-based exploration
- Document and reflect on student learning (pedagogical documentation)
- Build strong partnerships with families as co-educators

Qualifications & Experience

- OCT certification (preferred but not required for the right candidate), RECEs encouraged to apply
- Please ONLY apply if you have a background in early years or elementary education

Knowledge of:

- Inquiry-based and/or Reggio-inspired approaches
- Structured literacy / Science of Reading
- Child development and attachment theory
- Experience in alternative education settings is an asset

What Makes This Role Unique

- Small class sizes and deeply personalized learning
- Time and space to build meaningful relationships
- Professional autonomy and creative freedom
- A collaborative, values-driven environment
- The opportunity to help shape and grow an innovative micro-school
