Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Hand - Commercial to join our construction team. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily site operations, supervising crew members, and ensuring that commercial construction projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

As a leader in office, you will coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep projects on track and within scope. Your expertise in construction management software, blueprint reading, and schematics will be essential in guiding the team through complex tasks with precision and confidence.

Responsibilities

- Supervise daily activities of construction crews, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications
- Coordinate with project managers to schedule tasks, materials delivery, and resource allocation
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to guide team execution
- Conduct quality control inspections regularly to uphold safety standards and ensure work meets design requirements
- Assist in budgeting processes by monitoring labor costs and material usage; report discrepancies or issues promptly
- Oversee site safety protocols, enforce compliance with safety regulations,



and lead toolbox talks to promote a safe working environment

Requirements

- Proven supervising experience in commercial construction projects with a strong understanding of construction processes
- Extensive construction experience with knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics, and construction estimating
- Ability to read detailed schematics and technical drawings accurately
- Strong skills in quality control practices and site safety enforcement
- Experience managing budgets, tracking costs, and coordinating project schedules effectively
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members, subcontractors, clients, and suppliers

Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate

- Toronto, ON M6P 3M3: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

Experience:
- Construction: 7 years (preferred)
- Commercial construction: 5 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:
- Working at Heights Certificate (preferred)
- WHMIS Certification (preferred)
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
