We are litigators. We practice insurance litigation with a focus on the Repair and Storage Liens Act (RSLA) as well as subrogation. In addition, our firm has a growing personal injury, civil/commercial litigation, and wills/estates practice.

WHO WE NEED:
A Licensed Paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. We seek a person with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks/deadlines. This position pertains to working on insurance litigation files with a focus on the RSLA.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Here are the qualification that we seek:
- You must a valid license as a Paralegal in Ontario and have successfully completed a Paralegal Studies program.
- You must have between 2-5 years of legal experience (i.e., drafting, preparing, and filing Court documents, and conducting legal research), and preferable experience in working with the RSLA, Consumer Protection Act, and Insurance Act and/or insurance subrogation (or similar role).
- You must have a good working knowledge of Clio, Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel), and Adobe.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- The ability to work independently and in a rapid-paced environment.
- The ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and tasks.
- You must have excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- You must be detail oriented with analytical skills.
WHAT YOU DO: Here is what you’ll be doing, generally:
- Utilizing the Repair and Storage Liens Act to protect and advance client interests.
- Representing clients in legal proceedings before the Small Claims Court.
- Research case law and prepare client reports.
- Review, analyze, and summarize client files, and provide recommendations to clients with respect to steps to take on a particular file.
- Investigate the file by conducting client interview, and insured interviews.
- Communicate with opposing parties.
- Request records from the Ministry of Transportation, and complete Freedom of Information requests.
- Draft written legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and witness statements.
The above is a general overview and does not encompass all duties and responsibilities as a paralegal with our firm. PROBATION: 90 day (3 month) probationary period.
HOURS OF WORK: Regular office hours, Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (permanent, full time).
