Join our dynamic 27 stretcher Day Surgery Unit as a Registered Nurse, where you will play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, patient centered care.
Our Surgical Day
Ward (SDW) supports patients across a broad range of surgical specialties, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastics, orthopedics, and craniofacial procedures. In this fast paced and collaborative environment, you will perform comprehensive assessments, support pre operative preparation, and guide patients through their post operative recovery to ensure a safe transition home. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary operative teams, develop strong clinical judgment, and make a meaningful difference in each patient’s surgical experience.

Description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating in the delivery of holistic care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN practices to full scope, applying professional nursing knowledge, clinical judgment, critical thinking, and communication skills to support safe care and positive health outcomes. The role is committed to providing person-centred, culturally safe, and inclusive care that respects the diverse backgrounds, experiences, values, and needs of patients/residents and families.
The LPN contributes to a culture of learning and professional practice excellence by orienting, coaching, mentoring, and supporting the development of staff,
students, and learners. The role promotes knowledge sharing and collaborative practice to enhance individual, team, and organizational effectiveness. The LPN fosters an inclusive learning environment that encourages respectful engagement and equitable opportunities for growth and development.
The LPN demonstrates leadership within their scope of practice by coordinating care activities, supporting effective team functioning, and contributing to quality improvement and patient/resident safety initiatives. Required Qualifications Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).
Basic Life Support Healthcare
Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications
Two years (within the last 2.5 years) surgical experience required. 2 years (within the last 2.5 years) critical care experience in ICU, emergency, PACU, or endoscopy.
Preferred Qualifications
Day surgery and/or ambulatory connect care proficiency. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment. Able to deescalate tense situations. Committed to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices.
