Position: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Medication Witnessing

Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Pay Range: $32.00–$48.00 per hour

Location: Vancouver, BC and surrounding areas

Work Setting: Patient Shelters / Supportive Housing / Community Locations

Position Summary

Owl Drugs Pharmacy is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to accompany our pharmacy delivery team to patient shelters, supportive housing facilities, and other designated community locations.

The primary responsibility of this position is to witness and document patients taking their prescribed medication/dose and communicate any concerns or discrepancies to the appropriate pharmacy team member or pharmacist.

Owl Drugs Pharmacy provides a company vehicle, designated driver, and delivery team members. Our team members are responsible for providing the prescribed dose to the patient. The LPN is not responsible for driving, independently delivering medication, or preparing the medication.

The LPN's primary role is to professionally witness the patient taking the provided dose, complete the required documentation, observe for immediate concerns, and communicate relevant information to the pharmacy team.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

- Accompany the Owl Drugs Pharmacy delivery team to assigned patient shelters, supportive housing facilities, and community locations.
- Travel with the team in a company-provided vehicle with a designated company driver.
- Witness patients taking their prescribed medication/dose as required.
- Confirm patient identity according to established procedures before witnessing the dose.
- Observe and document that the patient has taken the provided medication/dose.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation for all witnessed doses.
- Document and report situations where a patient refuses a dose, does not take the complete dose, is unavailable, or when a dose cannot be witnessed.




- Immediately communicate medication discrepancies, suspected adverse reactions, unusual patient presentations, or other safety concerns to the pharmacist.
- Follow established procedures whenever there is uncertainty regarding a patient, medication, dose, or documentation.
- Always maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental approach when working with patients.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy team members, delivery staff, shelter staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Follow Owl Drugs Pharmacy policies and procedures regarding medication witnessing, documentation, patient safety, infection prevention, and incident reporting.
- Perform all duties within the LPN's authorized scope of practice and applicable professional standards.

Role Clarification This is primarily a medication-witnessing position.

Owl Drugs Pharmacy provides

The LPN is not required to use their personal vehicle, drive the company vehicle, prepare medications, or independently deliver medications to patients.

Qualifications:

- Current and active registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in British Columbia and in valuable standing.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and skilled boundaries.




- Comfortable working in shelters, supportive housing, and community environments.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations, mental health, addictions, harm reduction, OAT, or community healthcare is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working as part of a mobile healthcare team.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification is considered an asset.
- Successful completion of required background/criminal record checks.

Compensation $32.00–$48.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and relevant clinical background.
