Position Overview The Lift Truck Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Morbern’s fleet of electric and propane-powered lift trucks and material handling equipment. The role supports protected and reliable plant operations by completing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and minimizing equipment downtime. The fleet includes Raymond reach trucks and Toyota, Nissan, and Hangcha equipment, including electric reach trucks, sit down lift trucks, and electric walkies.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair electric and propane powered lift trucks and related material handling equipment.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections in accordance with manufacturer requirements and Morbern procedures.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, steering, braking, cooling, drive, and charging systems.
- Repair or replace tires, brakes, forks, chains, hoses, bearings, motors, controllers, and other equipment components.
- Inspect, test, maintain, and repair industrial batteries, battery connections, cables, and charging equipment.
- Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, electrical schematics, and manufacturer information to identify equipment faults.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs promptly to minimize operational interruptions.
- Complete work orders, inspection records, preventive maintenance documentation, and repair histories accurately.
- Monitor parts and supply requirements and coordinate external service support when specialized repairs are required.
- Report unsafe conditions, recurring equipment concerns, and repair priorities to the Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain tools, equipment,
and work areas in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
- Perform all work in accordance with Morbern health and safety requirements, including lockout and tagout procedures and required personal protective equipment.
Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Postsecondary training in industrial mechanics, motive power, heavy equipment, automotive service, or a related trade is preferred.
- A valid Ontario trade certificate or manufacturer training related to lift trucks or material handling equipment is an asset.
- Preferably 3 to 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing forklifts, lift trucks, or material handling equipment.
- Experience with Raymond Reach trucks and propane powered Toyota, Nissan, or Hangcha equipment is preferred.
- Experience diagnosing electrical systems, industrial batteries, chargers, internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.
- Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics and use diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments safely.
- Ability to prioritize repairs, work independently, maintain accurate service records, and communicate effectively with maintenance and operations employees.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position in a manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Availability to respond to equipment breakdowns and support operational requirements outside regular hours when required.

Pay: $45.00-$55.00 per hour
