Overview

We are currently seeking a permanent full time Line Cook to join our team. The Cook will be responsible for the preparation and cooking of breakfast, lunch and supper for our residents. The successful candidate will have attention to detail, robust focus on quality and experience working in a fast-paced restaurant or food service environment and maintaining food safety standards.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines such as sauces, soups, salads, vegetables, meat, poultry, fish dishes & desserts.
- Assist in food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients to ensure efficient meal service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
- Follow all food safety protocols and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe dining environment.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of meals and smooth kitchen operations.
- Support meal presentation and plating to enhance the dining experience for residents.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs to management for restocking.
- Organizes workstations for each shift while maintaining a high level of productivity and sanitation at all times.
- Prepares dessert carts & room service in a timely fashion, when deemed necessary.
- Ensures the cleanliness of fridges, freezers, kitchen floors and other kitchen areas.




- Ensure all stocks are maintained at an accurate level and notify of shortages.

Skills and Qualifications

- Knowledge of proper handling and storage procedures for food.
- Dexterity and coordination are required for the operation of cooking appliances/equipment.
- A high degree of speed and precision is required to ensure the proper and timely production of food.
- Identifies issues/problems affecting the Dining Room and develops options and presents recommendations considering management, budget and time restraints.
- Sound knowledge of receipt reading.
- All communication with management, colleagues and customers must be conducted in a positive and professional manner.
- Reading and listening skills are required to understand information from colleagues/management on work related topics.
- Ability to work successfully while standing for long periods of time.
- Ability to safely lift heavy objects in the day to day operations of the kitchen.
- Ability to work in a changing and fast paced environment.
- Flexibility with scheduling.
- Must be able to provide a RCMP Criminal Background Check.
- Prior food service experience in a restaurant or similar setting is required, with a focus on food preparation and cooking.
- Knowledge of food handling safety regulations and sanitation practices is essential.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a team-oriented setting.

Our Kitchen is open 7 days a week, with multiple shifts ranging between from 7am to 7pm. The successful candidate will be available for all shifts in the rotation. Pay: From $16.25 per hour
