PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible to drive safely in all types of road and weather conditions and temperatures.
- Responsible to deliver freight as per schedule and company policy.
- Responsible for any trip planning on long haul runs.
- If required to cross border into U.S. obtain a FAST card or have a valid Passport - Communicate with dispatch according to department procedures regarding pickups, deliveries or inquires.
- Responsible for a required pre-trip inspection ensuring equipment is in safe working order.
- Communicate with shop when maintenance is required.
- Familiar with and carry out all required paperwork according to company policy.
- Familiar with and comply to all hours of service and any other regulations for all jurisdictions operated in.
- Responsible to ensure freight is properly identified / labelled.
- Responsible for loading and unloading of product in a protected, accurate and professional manner.
- Familiar with operations of The Erb Group and comply with company regulations.
- Responsible for the operation of the onboard telematic device which includes the electronic log and communication system for communication with dispatch.
- Responsible to attend Driver Safety meetings.
- All other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum 1 year verifiable driving experience on AZ/Class 1 license required (excluding entry level positions).
- Meet the licensing requirements for the specific job opening.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and health survey.
- CVOR, Driver abstract and a copy of a drivers license must be provided at time of interview.
- Employment reference check will be completed.
- Criminal record check will be required.
- Required to pass pre-employment screening program (PSP).
- Required to pass FMCSA Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse results.
- Required to wear PPE (provided by The Erb Group).
WORKING CONDITIONS May vary from terminal to terminal, but primarily will be:
- The Erb Group is a 24/7 Operation, with runs departing daily.
- Departure times will vary and will be determined by H.O.S. regulations.
- There is no set end time on any given day and work can be up to and including the HOS regulations.
- Drivers can sign up for bid run when posted, if interested, and will be awarded on a seniority bases. Drivers not on a bid run will be considered an Open Board Driver - Open board drivers are not assigned to a particular dedicated run. These drivers are assigned to runs as dispatched.
AZ International Hwy
- Majority of work in Canada is Ontario/Quebec.
- Lower 48 States (primarily eastern seaboard for newly hired).
- Western and Eastern Canada (with a possible reload out of the U.S.).
- Certain terminals require you to be gone for a minimum of 10-14 days at a time.
