Under One Sky is a vibrant and caring community hub, providing programs and services, educating, advocating for, and empowering a healthy and proud Indigenous Community. Under One Sky invites applications for a Maintenance & Facilities Support to add to our growing organization.

The Opportunity:

The Maintenance & Facilities Support reports to Under One Sky’s Transportation & Facilities Coordinator and works closely with the Head Start team. The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the organization’s facilities and grounds. The position also serves as a bus driver for the Head Start program and other organizational programming as required, ensuring the secure transportation of children and passengers while maintaining the organization’s vehicles and transportation standards.

Responsibilities:

- Act as bus driver or bus monitor for Head Start program when required.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists at both facilities including washroom cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, window cleaning, floor polishing, and garbage removal.
- Maintain, clean and repair buildings (interior and exterior), fences, parking lot and grounds as needed throughout the year.
- Inspect buildings, structures and grounds to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Perform light maintenance such as painting, and minor repairs.
- Shovel snow, salt/sand and clear window wells as needed throughout the winter.
- Trim trees, mow lawn, and clean up yard and lot as needed.
- Maintain an inventory of equipment and furniture of the facility.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Use hand and power tools and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and management skills, problem solving.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency.

Qualifications:





- Valid Class 4 Driver’s License is required (or willing to obtain).
- Experience transporting children or working in a childcare/educational setting is an asset.
- Current First Aid /CPR certification, or willingness to obtain and maintain certification.
- Additional trade, maintenance, or occupational health and safety certifications are considered an asset.
- A Criminal Background/Vulnerable Sector and Social Development check is required of successful applicants.
- Comprehensive knowledge of local Indigenous communities, culture, and history.
- Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous candidates.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, supplies, tools, and equipment as required.
- Ability to carry or lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights as required.

Salary: Starts at $50,000, based on experience and qualifications
