York Street Spa is looking for an experienced Makeup Artist & Front Desk Receptionist to join our team in downtown Ottawa.

This is a unique hybrid position for someone who is passionate about professional makeup artistry while also providing exceptional front desk and guest service. The successful candidate will work at reception and provide professional makeup services for our clients, including weddings, bridal parties, special occasions, events, photoshoots and other makeup appointments.

York Street Spa is an Aveda Lifestyle Spa offering massage, esthetics, hair and salon services. We have an established clientele, an experienced team and a welcoming professional environment.

Makeup Artist Responsibilities:

- Provide skilled makeup applications for weddings, bridal parties, special occasions, events and photoshoots
- Consult with clients to understand their desired look and recommend suitable makeup styles
- Create a range of looks, from natural and polished to full-glam makeup
- Maintain excellent sanitation and hygiene standards for makeup products, brushes and tools
- Provide an exceptional client experience
- Help promote and grow our makeup services
- Makeup trials and bridal consultations as required

Front Desk Responsibilities:

- Welcome and assist guests
- Answer phone calls and book appointments
- Confirm appointments and gather necessary client information
- Perform opening and closing duties
- Process sales and recommend Aveda products
- Serve beverages and maintain a welcoming reception area
- Assist with social media and promotion of spa services




- Handle client questions or concerns professionally
- Support the team with general front desk duties

Qualifications:

- Professional makeup artistry experience is required
- Bridal and special-event makeup experience is strongly preferred
- A makeup portfolio or examples of previous work are preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Comfortable working at a busy front desk and answering phones
- Professional, friendly and reliable
- Available to work flexible hours, including weekends when required for weddings and special events
- Experience in a salon, spa, beauty or hospitality environment is an asset
- Social media experience, including creating beauty-related content, is an asset
- Knowledge of Aveda products is an asset; training is available

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
