1 Salary : $108,500.18 – $144,300.18 annually Employment type : Temporary Assignment (TA) Location : Multiple Locations, BC CA (Primary) The candidate must provide strategic leadership for British Columbia's trade promotion and investment attraction initiatives in China, ensuring alignment with government priorities, economic objectives, and international engagement strategies.

The candidate must lead the development and implementation of British Columbia's China trade and investment strategy, including business plans, priority sectors, market approaches, and performance measures. The candidate must identify, advance, and secure high-value trade and investment opportunities for British Columbia that generate economic perks including export growth and foreign direct investment.

The candidate must lead and coordinate British Columbia's official representation in China, maintaining a strong provincial profile with senior‐level stakeholders in government, industry, academia, and institutions. The candidate must represent British Columbia at senior‐level meetings, events, and forums in China to promote the Province's economic strengths and strategic priorities.

The candidate must provide strategic advice to Ministers, the Premier's Office, senior provincial officials, and Canadian Heads of Mission to support informed decision‐making related to trade, investment, and international engagement. The candidate must lead British Columbia's participation in Minister‐led, Premier‐led, and senior‐level trade and investment missions to and from China, including planning, program development, stakeholder coordination, and in‐market execution.

The candidate must oversee delivery of services supporting British Columbia companies entering or expanding in the Chinese market, including market intelligence, issue resolution, introductions, and partnership facilitation.



The candidate must ensure the provision of timely and actionable market intelligence to provincial ministries, Crown corporations, and partner organisations to support economic and policy development.

The candidate must cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with federal and provincial partners, international agencies, diplomatic missions, and economic organisations to support coordinated trade and investment efforts.

The candidate must provide executive oversight of human and financial resources supporting British Columbia's presence in China, including business planning, budgeting, performance management, reporting, and office operations. The candidate must lead and manage staff, including assigning work, setting and evaluating performance expectations, approving leave, and supporting employee development.

The candidate must ensure compliance with provincial policies, diplomatic protocols, security requirements, and applicable Government of Canada and host country regulations.

Job Requirements The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree or higher from a recognised university and will be required to provide proof of completion. The candidate must have a minimum of five (5) years' experience, including at least three (3) years of recent experience, in international business development, trade promotion, and/or foreign direct investment attraction.

The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Canadian Diplomatic Passport and the required diplomatic accreditation and visa in the host country, and must not hold citizenship of the host country. The candidate must hold Canadian citizenship. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in both English and Mandarin, in oral and written communication.

Security and safety The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance from the Government of Canada. The candidate must successfully complete a medical and fitness‐for‐duty assessment.
