Helping a student learn to understand and apply essential math skills can make a lasting difference in their confidence and academic success. Study Partners Tutoring is looking for patient, enthusiastic Math Coaches to work in-person at our Cobourg location with junior and intermediate math students who require extra support.
What You'll Do
- Work 1-to-1 with students in Grades 5 to 8
- Help students strengthen skills in number sense, fractions, decimals, percentages, operations, problem-solving, measurement, geometry, introductory algebra, etc.
- Explain math concepts clearly and in different ways
- Use and expand on students' classroom materials
- Help students identify mistakes, develop effective strategies and become more independent problem-solvers
- Build students’ confidence and help reduce frustration around math
- Communicate with parents about student progress and activities to support progress at home
Who We’re Looking For We are looking for candidates who are:
- Patient,
positive and comfortable working with students
- Confident with Grade 5 to 8 math
- Able to explain math concepts clearly and step by step
- Strong communicators who can adapt their approach to different learners
- Reliable and comfortable working independently with students
- Interested in education and helping students succeed
Experience working with children and the ability to obtain a Vulnerable Person’s Police Clearance are required. Current and retired teachers, education students, educational assistants, and university or college students with robust math experience are encouraged to apply.
