POSITION OVERVIEW
Ideal Warehouse Innovations is seeking a practical, hands-on Mechatronics Systems Specialist to design, develop, integrate, and validate complex electromechanical systems. This role combines work across multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, electronics, controls, and software systems with industrial engineering principles, to deliver innovative products and manufacturing solutions.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Controls & Automation
- Concept, design, develop and validate new products through the applied knowledge of controls, electrical, AI, data analytics and PCB design.
- Define system requirements, technical specifications, and performance criteria
- Design, develop, and implement automated manufacturing equipment and mechatronic systems.
- Program, configure, troubleshoot and implement control systems using PLCs, embedded controllers, industrial PCs, and motion control technologies.
- Support commissioning, validation, and continuous improvement of automated production lines and products.
- Support sensor selection, actuator integration, motor control, robotics, and machine vision applications.
- Evaluate new technologies, recommend integration into new products and automation solutions that improve operational performance.
Engineering Documentation & Compliance
- Define system requirements, technical specifications, and performance criteria
- Perform system modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize performance and reliability.
- Develop verification and validation plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and root cause analyses.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety guidelines.
- Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Support validation and quality-control activities for new and existing manufacturing systems.
Manufacturing Process Optimization
- Analyze and optimize production processes using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Industrial Engineering methodologies.
- Improve production throughput while maintaining quality, safety, and cost objectives.
- Conduct time studies, work measurement, capacity analysis, and line balancing.
- Develop equipment specifications, layouts, and process flow diagrams.
- Analyze manufacturing data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
Mechanical Assembly & CAD
- Assist with mechanical assembly of custom machinery and automation equipment.
- Install sensors, actuators, pneumatic components, cable carriers, guarding, and machine hardware.
- Proficient usage of Solidworks in the design of mechanical components and assemblies.
- Creation and understanding of drawings, electrical and mechanical.
- Strong foundational understanding of GD&T; principles.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve machine reliability, maintainability, and safety.
- Recommend electrical and controls upgrades.
- Lead root cause analysis for production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support ongoing process improvements that enhance productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and product development teams.
- Support equipment installation, startup, testing, and commissioning activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- PLC programming (Beckhoff, Omron, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, etc.).
- Experience with mechanical 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, or Profinet
- SCADA and HMI development
- Data visualization and reporting tools
- Experience in industrial manufacturing, automation, or custom machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ for automation and data analysis
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Comfortable performing both electrical controls and light mechanical work.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel occasionally for equipment installation or service.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple technical projects and work cross-functionally.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Standing, lifting, climbing ladders, and working around energized equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.
- May provide support in operations, involving some physical effort.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Combination of shop floor, manufacturing, and office environments.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $60,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
