Our client is a clinical AI research and formalization company building a future where the standard of care is executable and traceable to source evidence. Operating a dual-entity structure with both a frontier research arm and a SaaS distribution arm, the company compiles evidence-graded medical knowledge into schema-enforced decision artifacts that run in clinical production. Backed by a $3M seed round from Canadian VCs and a family office, they feature a small, deeply technical, fully remote team across North America.

Role Overview

This is a research role with production stakes. As a Member of Technical Staff, you will study how far frontier models can be pushed in extracting, structuring, and proving clinical logic, design experiments to determine optimal approaches, and ship the winning results into the production pipeline. You will collaborate directly with founders and clinicians to convert clinical standards into verifiable, executable modules.

Key Responsibilities

- Convert clinical standards into executable modules via parsing with document and layout models, transformation, and validation
- Iterate on target syntax representations for guideline logic
- Conduct experiments using open versus closed models, fine-tuning, and constrained decoding
- Co-design benchmarks, datasets, metrics, and error analysis for clinical fidelity




- Collaborate directly with founders and validating clinicians who rely on the platform outputs
- Build benchmarks and adversarial cases measuring source fidelity, logical completeness, and recommendation correctness
- Translate model failures into actionable hypotheses, experiments, and system design improvements
- Develop deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to make ambiguity, contradiction, and source silence explicit

Qualifications

- 3+ years of research or industry experience, or a final-year PhD or postdoc
- Experience working within a Frontier AI Lab or an exceptional research background involving cutting-edge AI/ML research
- Demonstrated experience shipping ML/NLP systems to production environments
- BS+ in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Production-level proficiency in Python, PyTorch, and the Transformers ecosystem
- Direct experience with LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering
- Solid written communication skills to articulate failed experiments and uncertainty clearly
- Authorization to work in the US or Canada and willingness to attend in-person offsites multiple times per year

Preferred Qualifications

- PhD in Computer Science, ML, NLP, formal methods, statistics, or a related field
- Experience working in healthcare, safety-critical, or highly regulated environments
- Experience with compilers, program synthesis, formal methods, or static analysis
- Familiarity with IR design, constraint solving, SAT/SMT solvers, DSLs, FHIR, or HL7 v2
