CMHA Kelowna & District is hiring a casual MentalHealth and Substance Use Clinician to join the Foundry Kelowna team. The servicehours are from Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm with extended hours on Tuesdaysand Thursdays until 7:00pm. WHO IS A MENTAL HEALTH & SUBSTANCE USE CLINICIAN?

The Mental

Health and Substance Use (MHSU)Clinician will provide clinical counseling, assessment, care planning, andsupport to young people accessing services at Foundry Kelowna and satellitesites in the community. The Clinician will employ a solution-focused brieftherapy approach to empower youth in their mental health and substance usejourneys, facilitating their access to necessary services and promoting theiroverall well-being. WHAT DOES THE MENTAL HEALTH & SUBSTANCE USE CLINICIAN DO?

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide individual treatment andongoing assessment using evidence-based modalities, including CBT, mindfulness,and DBT - Utilize asingle-session approach to deliver Solution Focused Brief Therapy to youth - Facilitate group therapy workshops anddeliver psychosocial care - Carry a manageablecaseload, providing brief and short-term interventions - Conduct comprehensiveassessments as required to identify individual needs and participate in careplanning - Facilitate access toappropriate services based on assessment outcomes - Provide direct services to youth andyoung adults, including families/caregivers and other professionals involved inthe care process - Assist clients with system navigation,advocacy, and referrals to specialized resources - Collaborate with clients, internalteams, healthcare professionals, families, and community partners to ensureintegrated care - Mentor and support other team membersand practicum students in clinical practices and interventions - Participate in service improvementinitiatives, including collaborating with community agencies and stakeholdersto enhance the support network for young individuals - Performs other related duties asassigned.





QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

- Master’s degree in Social Work,Counselling Psychology, or equivalent in Behavioral/Social Sciences/Services required - Certification orworking towards obtaining certification in applicable field (ie: BCCSW, BCACC) - Certificates in FirstAid, CPR and Naloxone considered an asset - Minimum 2 years’experience working in a counselling role - Valid Class 5 BCdriver’s license - Criminal Record Checkclearance in the Vulnerable Sector - Experience workingwith youth, young adults or families/caregivers considered an asset - Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills - Ability to establish rapport and trustwith youth and families - Skilled in active listening andempathetic engagement - Ability to work independently andcollaboratively within a multidisciplinary team - Commitment to continuous professionaldevelopment and adherence to ethical guidelines - Ability to maintainconsistent professional boundaries - Proficient inMicrosoft Outlook, Word and Excel - Proficient in utilizing clinicalassessment tools and electronic health record systems - Familiarity with evidence-basedpractices in mental health and substance use treatment - Knowledge of harm reduction andworking with a trauma informed lens - Experience in facilitating groupprograms is preferred - Attention to detail and adaptabilityto changing environments - Strong analytical, critical thinking,and negotiation skills for assessing complex situations,



particularly withyoung people - Ability to synthesize informationquickly and make informed decisions - Ability to beregularly exposed to individuals who are struggling with and/or recovering fromtrauma, drug/alcohol use, homelessness, mental health challenges and/or mentalillness - Ability to travel forcommunity partner events on an occasional basis - Ability to travelbetween facilities and other locations on an occasional basis WHO IS CMHA KELOWNA & DISTRICT?
