Your New Role

Reporting to the senior operating leadership team, the Superintendent, Mining will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all underground mining activities. You will be accountable for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while meeting production, development, and business objectives.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage operational teams, contractors, and cross-functional stakeholders while driving continuous improvement across the underground operation.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership and direction for underground mining operations.
- Develop and manage departmental goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with annual operating and capital budgets.
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of mining policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Support the adoption of industry best practices, innovative mining methods, and operational improvements.
- Provide technical and operational guidance to support mining projects and initiatives.
- Develop short and long-term plans for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of ore reserves.
- Ensure achievement of key operational targets including safety, production, development, dilution control, and grade management.
- Oversee production planning activities, including ventilation requirements, ground control strategies, geological controls, and stope sequencing.
- Manage mining contractors and ensure contractual obligations and performance expectations are met.
- Monitor operational performance through reporting, inspections, audits, and performance reviews,



implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Collaborate closely with technical services, maintenance, processing, safety, and other operational departments.
- Maintain compliance with applicable mining legislation, regulations, and corporate requirements.
- Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, leadership, and continuous improvement.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop supervisory and operational teams.

What You'll Need to Succeed
- Degree in Mine Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of underground mining experience.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience within an underground mining environment.
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, production planning, ventilation, ground control, and operational best practices.
- Proven experience managing operating budgets and controlling costs.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical and operational data to drive performance improvements.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mining-related reporting systems.
- Experience managing contractors and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Ability to maintain composure and deliver results in challenging operational environments.
