We are seeking an candidate to work as an NDT LPI & QA Inspector. This will be an hourly position reporting to the Quality Supervisor. At this time, this position will be required to work the evening shift – from 2:00 pm. to 12:00 am., Monday to Thursday. Training will be on the day shift, Monday to Friday with a gradual shift to evenings. Candidate must be able to modify hours/days of work when required as per vacation, unexpected absence, and training requirements..
Position Summary
NDT, LPI Inspector, is primarily responsible for performing a variety of quality control and inspection work, ensuring all standards, specifications, codes and regulations are met, and accurately reporting instances of non-conformances. The NDT Inspector provides training to inspectors as well as basic measurements training to machine shop personnel. The NDT Inspector shall possess NRCan/CGSB Level II certification in any of liquid penetrant inspection (LPI)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide “first article” inspection services and the authorization to proceed with production in the areas of the company associated with machining activities.
- Audit finished products and sub-component products for compliance with requirements and specifications through the examination of in-process inspection data provided by production and the application of inspection techniques.
- Perform various receiving inspection functions on incoming materials and components for compliance with requirements and specifications through the application of inspection techniques.
- Perform non-destructive testing functions in LPI, as appropriate to the employee’s qualifications.
- Accurately record instances of non-conformance in the “NC” (Non-conformance) module of the company’s UNIPOINT® software system.
- Communicate with the Quality Management Representative where trends of non-conformance are apparent.
- Manage the company’s system for the control and calibration of company-owned and employee-owned IMTE using the company’s MeasurLink® software system.
- Ensure that appropriate status indicators have been applied to products or batches of products upon completion of inspection activities.
- Authorize the release of conforming product for delivery to customers.
- Authorize the disposition of non-conformances related to company-designed products in consultation with the Quality Management Representative and/or the Engineering Manager and/or the Product Development Coordinator as appropriate.
- Act as the liaison with customers in requesting concessions for non-conformances related to customer-designed products as directed by the Quality Management Representative.
- Ensure that all work order and inspection documentation is complete, and forwarded to accounting department for processing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Level II LPI Certification from NRCan/CGSB or equivalent.
- Detailed knowledge of all common shop floor measuring tools including dial bore gauges, thread gauges, groove mics, etc.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Systems and Quality Management System (QMS).
- Experience with precision machined components and machining processes required.
- Computer literate (knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite)
- High commitment to document control and record-keeping
- Completion of a mechanical blueprint reading course from a recognized educational institution.
- Completion of a dimensional metrology course from a recognized educational institution.
- Completion of a geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT) course from a recognized educational institution.
- Physical ability to lift/push loads of up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, perform repetitive tasks, and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.

- CMM experience considered a solid asset
- Inspection training certificate is considered an asset
- Familiarity with AS9100 and AS13100 is considered an asset
Skills and Competencies
- The ability to navigate and comprehend the company’s Quality Management System (QMS)
and its associated documents including specification documents issued by customers.
- Computer literate (A demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word®, Excel®, Outlook® as well as UNIPOINT®, SYSPRO® and MeasurLink® would be considered an asset).
- Familiarity with general machine shop practices.
- Knowledge of measuring devices that are typically used in a machine shop environment and their applications.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use and calibrate common measuring devices including but not limited to: micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, internal micrometers, telescopic gauges, dial bore gauges, mechanical height gauges, dial indicators, bevel protractors, weight scales, plug (thread) gauges and ring (thread) gauges.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use a coordinate measuring machine and Rockwell hardness tester.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills in the English language.
- Demonstrated mathematical skills required for the management of data.
- Ability to train inspectors and machine shop personnel.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
Additional Employment Requirements
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Must currently reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, or be able to reliably commute to Dimatec’s Winnipeg facility.
